Special teams formations subs

I'm trying to get my backup running back on the field on punts in place of the fullback. I know that I lose some protection this way, but I want him there so that I can fake punts with the run and actually have a chance of picking up the first down. But when I put him there in formations subs and then go in game the fullback is back there on punts. I have to manually go into my depth chart and move my running back to the fullback slot of the depth chart to get him to be out there on punts. That's just not worth the trouble, specially when you're playing online against another person. Anyone know why it does this? Am I doing something wrong?

you have to use special teams fake punt direct snap. i do the same thing also.

I did that. I actually subbed him in at that spot on every special teams formation. But then in game my fullback is still in that spot
