I waited at my local EB games last night for 1 1/2 hours for the Fed Ex delivery to arrive at 8:30 PM, it was delayed because of weather. I got home played for 10 minutes, and my one year old got a hold of the cord to the controller and gave a good yank. My PS2 took the 2' fall out of the wall unit and left to big scrathes in my game. Disc stopped reading. Luckily my local EB was open till 10pm they gave me a new one. Hope you are up and running soon.

That is why Xbox has breakaway controller cables... I would suggest Sony start manufacturing them as well, may save a few hundred consoles.
