User controlled celebrations?

I am having trouble with the User controlled celebrations... how do you pull them off on PS2? I allways try, but I get nothing. Any suggestions?

on PS2 its the L2(minor) or R2(extreme) + square(player) or triangle(mascot) or circle(fans)

You have to hit the buttons at exactly the right time. Usually the only time i can pull it off is when i do it as the play is ending. Would've been helpful if they had given some visual aid to let you know when to do it.

I just tried again. Whole game played with no control over these celebrations. Mascot/Player/Fan etc. None of them seem to work. HELP!

For me, I can only do it if I'm anticipating doing it. For instance, the moment you catch a pass for a first down, hold L + X and the player celebration will kick in. You can't do it after the screen cuts from the play.

Go into a game and try doing it the moment you get tackled after a first down.

You just have to find the right timing. I find it tough to do on TD's because it automatically goes to a cutscene or replay so quick, although i did get an unsportsmanlike for dunking on the goal post. A good way to test it is make a custom sign for first downs. Every time you get a first down hit L2 + circle. If you did it right you should see your custom sign.

This may be the answer for people who aren't seeing custom celebrations: apparently you can't use custom celebrations with a custom team. I played two full games with a custom team and tried to get a custom celebration after every play to no avail. I then switched to an actual team and was seeing them every other play, sometimes without even trying. Hopefully this will solve your problem, and if anyone can get the custom celebrations to work with a custom team, please let me know.
