Run-Pass Option?

RPO's are such an important part of many teams' offenses, such as Auburn's and Clemson's, and even pro-style teams such as South Carolina. These plays, as you know, are not in the game. Has anybody found any workarounds or simulations of this? I have had some success with calling a screen pass, scrambling with my quarterback, and throwing the ball if the screen is open and running with the qb if it isn't, but this doesn't truly capture the play.

Re: Run-Pass Option?

Sounds like you have the best option. The only other thing I could think of would be to call a bubble screen. Maybe you could call fight song, which has a designed rollout, and you can send the slot to the flat. Other than those options I don't think these much there.

Re: Run-Pass Option?

I've never tried this, but in theory I think it may work. Like Krush said, have a single receiver lined up to the side you want to run the option and send him to the flats, then snap the ball and scramble that way. You could add an extra step and have a flanker on play side and hot route him to block (if you can? I'm not sure). Or, have the slot guy opposite play side run a drag route so that he's over top of the quarterback while you're scrambling. If the defense steps up to meet the quarterback toss it over them to the guy on the short drag, if they stay with the receiver tuck it and run

Re: Run-Pass Option?

There's a run-pass play in the spread pb. I just used it in a user game a week ago.

Re: Run-Pass Option?

I've discovered that there is a motion option pass play in a lot of shotgun formations in which you can toss the ball to the WR coming around in motion or pass downfield.
