Offering a scholarship

Do you get any unseen bonus for offering? Is there anything else to it other than the player can finally commit?

No bonus. What you do get (more specifically than the ability to sign him) is that his interest can go above 73%. With no offer, it doesn't matter how many points you spend, you can't get over 73%.

This is exactly what I was going to say as well. Unless you have the "insta commit" perk there isn't any bonus to offering a scholarship week 1 vs week 15. You just potentially lose out on signing the recruit if you wait too long to offer, as other schools that offer him a scholarship will get way about the 73% mark at some point and you'll far too behind in the race if you wait to offer in the last few weeks of the season.

Only reason for waiting is if you have insta-commit and are just waiting to become their #1 school with the hopes he will accept right away. Other than that I always offer scholarships week1

Another reason might be that you're a lower end school and/or coach with not a ton of points and trying to maximize right at the start of the process, while mixing in some scouting. Wait till things shake out and you know which guys you could actually get to spend those 50 points. If you're a big team or stud recruiting coach, then no matter.
