Re: Bringing back NCAA Part 4, the final part, is up

Would be great if this happened but just like everyone else who makes decisions, nobody is willing to compromise. I get it, it would be a lot of money, but seriously, how is a non-profit group using that 14 billion dollar TV deal? Give it to the schools? OK fine, but why not give it to the players who get the TV companies to pay them? If I made a board game, and sold it to Hasbro, they wouldn't pay my boss at my job to make it easier for them to pay me for a job I am already doing. They would pay me for allowing them to get paid using my product.

You don't even have to give the players a large piece. Just enough to help them with day to day life. I get the fact they are given a chance at an education and I don't under score that. I just think in this day and age you place something aside for them and everyone wins in the end. Thanks for the feedback. If you get a chance, please leave something, even this same comment, on the actual blog itself as well. Just want to see others see comments and that helps drive people to read the blogs.

Re: Bringing back NCAA Part 4, the final part, is up

Paying players is not going to happen under the watch of the NCAA (http://www.ncaa.org/amateurism). It is what they stand for more than anything. It was the piece of the puzzle they fought for throughout O'Bannon. It's also what kept Northwestern players from unionizing.

The NCAA has over 460,000 student-athletes. Between FBS (10,880) and FCS (7,812), there is a max of 18,692 scholarships available. This represents about 4% of all NCAA student-athletes. While football generates the most revenue for most schools, the business model these programs operate under has them using that money to pay for the entire athletic department. You also have to keep in mind that only 24 programs were even profitable in 2014 (http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/fi...E%20report.pdf).

Want real players in a game going forward, then the reality is that you will need to look back. Want to see NCAA 18? You can have it, if you are okay with 2013 rosters. Once the players are out of school, they could cash in on that likeness. The schools didn't really make that much from the games as it was (http://www.fool.com/investing/genera...ent-and-f.aspx). If you take the $143,076 that Wisconsin made for the 2012-2013 season and split it between the 85 scholarship players, they would get $1,683/player. Of course, after you deduct the legal fees and all associated expenses of just getting a contract signed for the rights, that payout drops significantly!

Re: Bringing back NCAA Part 4, the final part, is up

While you might be right, at some point it could change. This was just part 4 of all the opinions I laid out. It is the one most want, but is also not as likely. I suggest you read the other options I laid out as well.

Also, you make the assumption that the players would get an even stake. They wouldn't if they were to be paid. It would most likely be a small amount to go along with their scholarships.

Yeah, an NCAA Football game would look awesome on current gen consoles. Just look at Madden. Hopefully one day...
