Serial numbers on the back on the disc (slowdown related)

I read over at gamefaqs that you can tell if you have a defective copy by the serial number on the back of the disc. I am still very skeptical of this and would like to know what some of your guys serial numbers are. Both people with and without slowdown. I went and exchanged my copy at gamestop today and when I got home it was still the 04 number. I think I am looking at the right number but I am not sure. Here is the number I am looking at, EA08102-EA-L1 then next to that in smaller letters is 04. This number is on the disc twice. Then there are two other numbers. The are 0109 and 0207. These numbers come a few spaces after the 04. Are people looking at the wrong numbers??? Does every cd have the number EA08102A-EA-L1 04 followed by a 4 digit number? Maybe some people are looking at the four digit number while others are looking at the 04. By the way the game plays the exact same. I am still skeptical about there being a bad batch of games. What would cause one batch to be bad and one to be good?

according to the guy at GF's my disc should work but i still get dropped balls and some slowdown.

I have an 04 but then i also have an 06

It says all the numbers then 04, but then on the other side of the little circle it says all the numbers and an 06

i jsut dont know..

the 04 and the 210 numbers seem to be engraved, unlike the other numbers.... just look at the underside of the disc under a light.

how does your game play?


My game plays ok.. occassional slowdown here and there, no game killers yet. and i sometimes get excessive dropped passes.

Online play (XBL) is unplayable... i'll try renting a "batch" game with the 04 and see how that runs compared to mine.
