Hitch & Pitch

Anyone seen this play this year, I know it was in a few years ago, I think it was in Clemsons playbook. I cant remember if it was in last year but im pretty sure it was in 2003.

If its not there, whats the best play that I could use to get teh same effect (Wr runs a hitch, catches the ball, then pitches to the RB whos coming out of the backfield to the outside of the WR) I tried with a few plays but the hitch was too short and the HB would be past the WR by the time he was ready to pitch it.

Re: Hitch & Pitch

Negative Bored one.

The Statue of Liberty play is a type of draw. As the QB drops back he holds the ball high in the air as if he's going to pass. (This pose is where the name comes from.) Then the ball is pulled down and given to a running back.

Another name for the Hitch & Pitch is the Hook & Ladder, meaning that the reciever runs a hook route on the reception and then "laterals" the ball to another player.

Re: Hitch & Pitch

. . . and "Hook and Ladder" is a shortened version of "Hook and Lateral", the original name of the play, since it is a hook route followed by a lateral to the runningback.

Re: Hitch & Pitch

We used to run it in HS and we called it the "Hitch n Pitch" used to kill teams with that.
