Speed or Power RB's?

And why? Power backs seem way too slow with the sliders I play on, and for some reason I have trouble recruiting speed backs. Which do you prefer in the type of offense are they most effective in?

Re: Speed or Power RB's?

I run a 2 back system. My speed back gets 15 to 20 carries, power back I like to average from 8 to 12 runs and my FB get 3 to 5. I split my RB’s evenly formation sub wise. My speed RB usually gets somewhere in the 115 to 150 yards range while my power back gets in the 40 to 80 range. FB gets 10 to 20 yards.

Re: Speed or Power RB's?

I have one of each, I'm on Heisman with JKit's sliders. RB ability is set to 20, and it's just enough.

It really depends on your sliders. With mine, both work. A power back needs about 87 speed at minimum. Much lower, and he just can't get through the hole. Mine was 87 as a freshman, he's 88 now. It's officially enough speed to break outside after fighting through tacklers. To be fair, he's more of a hybrid. Not true power, not true speed, but right in between.

My speed guy has 93 speed. He can REALLY break away, but rarely gets the chance. He doesn't break tackles as well, but when he does get a lane, he has some burners.

Through the first 2 games this year, they both get in the range of 20 carries and 100 yards each or so. So both work, if I had to choose 1, I'd take power over speed. If I could choose one back of any type, it'd be a balanced guy.

My RBA is at 15 and I had a 92 overall back last year that was absolutely worthless because he just wasn't fast enough. I always go speed.

I personally wouldn't go below 20 on RBA. Even Jkit upped his sliders to that. Below 20, they're running in quicksand.

I think my RBA is at 20. My power back plays fine but speed back seems slow he averages 120 yards/game but i think his longest run in my 2 years with the dynasty was a 27 yarder. My power back has actually broken a longer run.

Yeah, I had 1100 and 700+ with my duo last year, both averaging around 4 YPC, but that was on Matt10 Community sliders. My RBA was actually at 40 on that, and they ran like molasses. I'm on JKit's now, with RBA at 20, and they run better. So clearly, it's more than just RBA that effects how they run...it's wild how sliders have effects on so many aspects outside of their label!
