Recruiting Restrictions to Coaching Tree

So I posed this question in my dynasty thread (see signature), but wanted to get the feedback of those of you who post over here as well!

To try and add some difficulty recruiting wise to the game (I've had the #10 and 8 recruiting classes so far even with my house rules in place and want to challenge myself), I'm thinking of resetting my coach's recruiting skill tree, which is the only one I use, in the offseason.

Now here's the catch: I'm only going to allow myself to use recruiting points equivalent to the number of wins I had the previous season. So basically, if I have a bad season on the field, I should thus make it harder on myself recruiting wise as you would typically expect, especially for a program with less notoriety like Pitt, as opposed to a Notre Dame who even if they stink will end up getting great recruits just because of who they are.

So the question it boils down to when I factor this idea in: should I do a flat 2 points per win rate, or should I go with 3 points for every 2 wins (1 for the first win, 2 for the second, alternating each time)? I'll have to look back at my coach's rank currently to see how many points I have in place right now for a reference point, but basically that's the idea that I have to try and make future season's tougher so that there could be a lull in my talent pool at some point in the future. Let me know what you guys think and which of the options you like best!

I don't use any coach tree restrictions but I use prestige to restrict who I can recruit. Saw it around the forums a while ago.

Rule 1: May only recruit players who have you in their list of top schools based on the following:



1 Star: (Home State: Top 3) (Pipeline: Top 3) (Any: 1st)

2 Star: (Home State: Top 5) (Pipeline: Top 3) (Any: 1st)

3 Star: (Home State: Top 10) (Pipeline: Top 5) (Any: Top 3)

4 Star: (Home State: Any) (Pipeline: Top 10) (Any: Top 5)

5 Star: (Home State: Any) (Pipeline: Any) (Any: Top 10)

6 Star: Any player you want to pursue

Best recruiting house rules I've found. On the 1 star thru 6 star restrictions he is talking about the prestige of your school and not the star rating of the recruit.

I think that’s where the rules that I use come from. After you’ve started your dynasty, where can you see your teams prestige rating?

It can be seen when realigning conferences in the off-season and that at any point in the season in the Top 25 polls, Championship Contenders, and Conference Standings tabs.
