The only way I see 2K trying to produce a college football game is if they see it as a backdoor way of getting back to producing an NFL game. But as long as the NFL insists on having one official game (and 2K will never outbid EA for the exclusive license), there's really no point for 2K. EA would most likely release a college football game as well, and they have the Madden foundation to build the game on whereas 2K would be starting from scratch. It would be a lot of startup costs and resources to try to battle with a competitor who has a head start in a smaller market. I just don't see the $$$ incentive for 2K to try. Again, unless they think it could get them back in the NFL business somehow.

They could go through the back-back door and do the reverse of what people were doing with Madden on PC, allowing full customization of the college game into an NFL one. That would be funny.

NFL/NCAA could sue them, just like the college players did to the NCAA. You are trying to get around licensing.

Fully agee.
I just don't see it. 2k wants NFL. But the NFL prefers exclusive branding and no matter how most people feel, Madden will continue to sell well. There has been rumors, but that's it rumors. 2k dropped both college games due to low sales. 2k doesn't do low sales. They have shown quickness to drop a series due to low sales. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop WWE in a couple years due to it not being well received. The exclusive license EA signed with NCAA was more for games like Gamerbreaker because 2k already dropped out couple years prior due to low sales. I don't even see CHoops coming back and selling more than it did. CBB isn't a big market like CFB. I just don't see 2k investing all that money into dev cost, license costs, and starting from scratch for a game that only might sell 2-3 million copies

Competition in the video game market is good. That being said I have no faith in 2k to get football right. Nba and wwe stink in my opinion.
