User Controlled Punting

I saw this under another thread about custom rosters.
Can someone help explain this a little better to me using the PS3 buttons?
I would love to actually have a punt NOT go into the end zone for a change.

Hum Player - Controlling Punts

- You can control the bounce by press-n-holding "RB Button" slightly before the ball touches the foot.

- The closer to that "sweet spot" you are, the more control you will have.

- After the kick, press-n-hold upwards, moving L to R on the "Left Stick" to simulate backspin.

- You can also press down on the Left Stick to make the ball die on the first bounce.

**the only catch is that you must be in that "sweet spot" with RB Button, otherwise it will bounce into the endzone.

- The Player Punt Accuracy Rating "might" dictate how big the "Sweet Spot" is.

I've never heard of any of that. I usually just try an coffin corner my punts. If I'm too far out to corner it then I aim it to the sideline and kick it out of bounds as far down as I can

i went to practice mode to try this out with my ps3
hold the X button when the punter is about to punt it. to get the punt to die hold the left stick down. ive been able to get it to only take a 5-8 yard bounce and then tap it down.
try it and see what you think. ive been holding X when my punter is swinging his legt to punt it.

and holding down on the left stick helps get your guys to surround the ball to down it

OK so I decided to test it.

No matter what technique i did it didn't work every time. Some of my best ones were when I didn't hit the accuracy line all that close. (I suck at hitting that because i'm always aiming for a full kick).

What I feel I had the best success with (Xbox 360) was to hit R1 just before the foot hit the ball, and then right as the foot hits the ball, I held back (and sometimes another direction) on the left stick.

This is really cool, adds another element to the game, I'm tired of kicking every ball out of bounds since they bounce 40 yards if you don't.
