Hoist The Flag: An East Carolina Death Penalty Dynasty
Some breaking news coming out of Greenville, North Carolina this afternoon as heavy sanctions have been brought against East Carolina University. According to sources, the football program at the university underwent a significant amount of accusations by the current coaching staff in regards to payments issued to players, illegal contact with potential recruits, and improper use of booster club funds.
The NCAA has not officially released a statement regarding the severity of these penalties, but it is widely assumed that the program will be dealt the blow of the infamous Death Penalty, similar to which SMU was dealt in 1987. The team is likely to lose all scholarship athletes available to them at this time, will undergo bowl sanctions for several years, and will likely lose significant amounts of scholarship opportunities in the coming years.
