Mudtiger - PC slider tweaks
Goals
1. Raise passing completion % for both cpu and human. Way too many games where I see 30% completion rate. I want 50 to 60%. 2. Decrease INTs 3. More injuries 4. Less field goal accuracy 5. 60 to 125 yards on the ground per 20 carries on average 6. Some losses, I think I've won nearly every game I've played 7. More offense - most of my games have been field goal affairs 8. Miracle the special teams into looking more like real special teams 9. Keep the cpu and human sliders close to or equal to each other I will approach this the same way I do NCAA and madden sliders, by zeroing out the sliders to begin with, then slowly raising them if needed. If you have the pc version, go to football-freaks and get the HC utility so you can change all of these things. This is my 2nd preseason game and 4th total game with these sliders and I'm starting to like them. There probably is a lot of minor tweaking that needs to be done, but I've finally enjoyed playing/watching/coaching these last 2 games. Hopefully I won't need to do any major changes. Results from my 2nd pre-season game, I'm the rams. I subbed in 2nd string late in the 2nd quarter, then put in 3rd stringers in early 4th quarter. Code:

Bulger was 7 for 9 and was hitting open guys. Doug Johnson came in and did slightly worse while Fitzpatrick came in and stunk up the place. It looked just how I wanted it though as Fitzpatrick had guys open but made bad throws. Carr looked good having the best cpu QB day I've seen. His numbers aren't overpowering but right about where I'd want an average day for a QB. His 61 yard bomb really helped him out, the rest of his passes were under 10 yards except for the 20 something yarder to Andre. This area needs more testing though before anything is nailed down but I like it so far. My concern is that with D awareness at 0, it seems like DBs may get burned too much. There is a fine line here where qbs need wide open guys to complete passes, but if the D is just too dumb, then deep bombs and even a mediocre passing attack could be unstoppable. I'm feeling pretty good about qb accuracy, maybe some decrease will be needed, don't know yet. I'll definitely be messing with knockdowns if the passing attack is too potent, with a possible small increase to D awareness. Be aware that there will be guys wide open and while it may induce yelling at the computer specially when you are on defense, the stats so far have come out pretty well. This is the number 1 area I'm trying to get correct and to my liking. As long as I'm talking about qbs, I'll mention sacks. Carr got out of there with 0 sacks. That just ain't right. My DLine was getting no pressure. I'll have to look at how that can be altered. It may have been my playcalling and my sub 70 rated DLine though. I was happy with the pressure the cpu got on my qb. I'm a bit concerned about my individual run stats. They were a bit high due to some broken tackle long runs. I'm not going to pass any judgement on them as of yet though considering the cpu run game looked about right to me. Steven Jackson 5-32, 6.3 avg. Long of 21. Marshall Faulk 3-29, 9.6 avg. Long of 15. Michael Bennett 10-24, 2.3 avg. Long of 12. Domanick Davis 22-82, 3.7 avg. Long of 24. Vernand Morency 6-10, 1.6 avg. Long of 5. Possible run tweaks: Up tackling a small amount, up def break block a small amount, or a small D awareness increase to get guys to the ball on run plays in conjunction with maybe slowing down the pass game. I'm not going to make any of those tweaks until I get more stats to look at. Injuries...I had at least 2 guys go out with short 2 quarter injuries during the game. Right now I have injuries set at 125. More games need to be played before I make any changes here. To sum everything up, I think I'm making progress on tweaking this game to my liking. I've had a heck of a lot of fun playing my first 2 preseason games with these sliders as the passing game has opened up far beyond the poor 30% completion rate for both human and cpu which seemed like the norm before any tweaks. My concern so far is that the offense may come out to be too overpowering, but that's ok cause the D can easily be given a boost here and there if needed. My other concern is that I've only been using these for 4 games, so a true stat pattern hasn't emerged yet. |

Re: Mudtiger - PC slider tweaks
I got the console version so sliders aren't an option for me. But if they were it would make the game much better for me amd that's saying alot because I really enjoy it as it is right now. Sliders would take it up another level for me.
Hopefully EA implements them in next years version and create it for both PS3and XBOX 360. The thought of playing this game with enhanced graphics and the ability to change sliders would be awesome. |

Re: Mudtiger - PC slider tweaks
3rd preseason game, Rams(me) at Chiefs
I go up 24 to 3 in the first half and the Chiefs spend the rest of the game throwing 15+ yard pass patterns. I just stuffed Holmes plain and simple, I'll be keeping an eye on cpu rushing avg. A slight bump in their run block might be needed. There is a definite need to help the DBs bat down deep passes. I'll be making some changes - knockdowns will go up, cpu qb accuracy will come down as will human probably. I'll get in at least a couple games to see what kind of changes in the stats appear before updating the sliders from the previous post. Code:

Re: Mudtiger - PC slider tweaks
For the Human player you can give a command to your DB's to Bat the Ball down all game if you like and they'll do it often if they are in position.

Re: Mudtiger - PC slider tweaks
These sliders were producing some good results after replaying my final preseason game about 5 times and replaying the opening day game 3 times.
Run blocking went up because too many guys were getting nailed in the backfield. Knockdowns do seem to control the passing game numbers somewhat. Pushing them up to 30 seemed too far and 200+ yard passing days were rare. I could have had over 200 yards passing but had a few passes that should have been caught doink off guys. Human passing may need a slight boost as most of my previous 5 practice games have also had low passing numbers for human. Code:

A 90 some yard INT returned for a TD and a Tatum Bell fumble in the 3rd that I turned into a TD, otherwise the Broncos played much better than I did as I would expect them to. I think I'm pretty close but will tweak as needed for the next 3 to 5 games and then reevaluate. |
