What happens to holdouts that you don't renegotiate with? I had James Hall (DE) and Dre Bly (CB) holdout. After the preseason was over, I realized that I needed Hall so I re-negotiated his deal. Bly, on the other hand, I'm letting go. Do I have to cut him or what? As I've said before, I normally didn't deal with the signing of players in Madden.

As far as I understand if he is a holdout he stays on your roster but doesnt play. You still pay him his salary. To get rid of him you have to either cut him and have a cap penalty ( I think in the NFL it is the remaining signing bonus money) or trade him. I traded my holdouts for draft picks. If you are beyond the draft then you might be better off just to cut him. -

Thanks! One of my friends came over yesterday (a real football coach) and played some because he's thinking of getting a ps2 from his cousin to either rent or buy this game. I generally use 1 on 1: WR vs. DB to get my QB ready for gameday but after watching him use it to torch the best OVR DB on my roster, I realize that I may need to work out a deal with Dre Bly also.
