Definitely do what is required to get him a higher OVR. And I'm not just saying this as a Jets fan.

Although it was nice to see that screenshot of Favre in a Jets uni.

I voted before reading your last explanations. Change mine to 85 Josh. Thanks.

BTW...with the one years pro thing, his overall changes to 85.

Two things I just noticed that I do not want happening just happened while he was a 78. He was traded once (doh!) and he was cut on cut days the other time. By making him an 85, he stays as the starter and plays well.

Are you guys ok with the latter? I don't want to see him traded or cut right away.

I was going to say leave him at 78; he does have the most INT's in league history afterall...But after reading this breakdown, I'd hate to see Favre get cut, benched, or traded while with the Jets.

I voted for the option that makes him an 85 overall.

Make that three. Didn't know the 78 had him cut and traded. That'll never happen.

Josh, I need clarification on this as well, before I vote.

Are you able to:
1. Put Favre on Green Bay
2. Trade him to the Jets.
3. Now whatever Favre is rated as a Jet is what his OVR should be.

I do think it matters what his rating is currently, on Green Bay. Whatever his rating is, one would think his OVR would go DOWN because he is in a new system.

78 isn't his actual NFL experience. 78 is what Favre would be rated if he had been in the NFL for 16 years but never once stepped on the field. Josh is saying that the overall system takes into account the career statistics, so, if he lists him as a 16 year vet., then his overall rating is taking a hit despite the fact that he's same player either way. From what I understand, if he was still on the Packers, then he would be at least an 85 because of his skills/ability and would probably even be higher than that if his Hall of Fame worthy stats were taken into account.

If you want the 78, then the only effect it will have is when you view Favre's profile and it will say 16 years pro. That's the only benefit for chosing 78. Meanwhile, he'd also be getting cut or traded and might not even start for the Jets.

Re: Vote on the preferred solution to the Brett Favre roster update issue

Perhaps the dropoffs in ratings and other such things should be slightly reduced for those players who've been in the league longer. Where 1-5 is base calculation. 5-10 and 10-20. That way, while he would still be affected by the different team it wouldn't be as much.
