I think if the brains at EA have any common sense at all, they'll see that 9/10 CE purchases are because of Head Coach. There's nothing really in the package other than HC to make people buy it. That 1/10 will buy it for Madden '93 or just because it's a Collector's Edition and they are collectors.

I pick things up
I am a collector
And things, well things, they tend to accumulate.

They actually said it was fugly? Isn't it the 08 engine? What did
OXM call the gameplay when they reviewed 08? I really don't like OXM reviews. So glad I cancelled that subscription.

I don't see an issue here. I view the Madden CE as a bull**** marketing move to draw in hardcore gamers who EA knows will pay big money to get what is perceived to be the more realistic, strategic game. It's a way to force Madden sales to people (like me) who otherwise would not buy Madden if indeed HC turns out to be a great game.

I have enough willpower to wait 3 weeks for HC.

im gonna wait til september but the first time i heard of the package for CE i was very happy for the HC crew....i think this is a very serious approach by EA to reach out to a wider fan base.... they obviously see merit in HC even after the first one... (i felt the same way about HC then as i do NCAA09 now) ....i hope the HC guys increase their fanbase but i would hope for a 2 year dev cycle as opposed to 1.... what games other than sports games offer a new title annually? the impression i've gotten frm all the devs posting here and at utopia is that a one year cycle is not nearly enough....imagine a two year dev cycle for HC...the framework has already been laid and they can focus on building as opposed to fixing.... cheers to u guys at HC, and i hope u dnt field a disaster like ur teammates down the hall

It certainly is win/win for EA. Including Head Coach in the CE will increase Madden sales and it also introduces Madden fans HC.

I would also prefer a 2 year release cycle as well - if we can just get 2K to do the same and release a football game on Madden's off year that would be sweet.

problem is 2k can only offer non-NFL game because EA has the exclusive license.

I am normally against exclusive licenses, because I believe competition drives progress. However in this case we probably wouldn't have Head Coach without the license, so in this case we actually benefit.
