Whats the situation with penalties?

I did 60 for holding, false starts, offsides, face mask, def pass interference, roughing the passer, and clipping. Everything else I left at 50.

Seems to be pretty realistic to the real nfl as far as penalties called.

If anyone else out there has some of their own realistic sets, let us know.

I think it might be a bug in the game where if you move the penalties even just a little bit, you will get a penalty on every play. I moved mine to 55 and got holding on every single play. 50 is ok though. Not too bad.

with settings at default I have had zero penalties in my first half of play.

Don't forget. It could be a lower rated player causing penalties. Everyone would have to play with the same team in coach now to test the peanlty settings.

also on the "too many" comment - Please don't try and appease the people that might think there are too many. Make it as close to the real NFL as possible. I have been playing this game for 12 hours straight and only now made it to my first exhibition game.

The type of people that would complain about this game in that manner ought to be playing Madden. You are never going to please or persuade the arcade guy, or the guy that doesn't "get it" to like this game. .

You are far better off appeasing the fanatics who don't have to be explained to what this game is and have been waiting for this game for 20 years.

Have people been noticing bad teams with low discipline taking more penalties than better teams in general? I haven't played enough games yet to judge.

I just played a game as the Texans vs. the Ravens.... 24-24 1 min left in the game have them on THEIR 5.

Sack for safety, oh wait no 15 yard facemask on me... next play 3 yard loss, but wait 15 yard facemask on me... they throw the ball next play... oh look incomplete, but oh roughing the passer... ON ME... they went from their 5 to my 10 on JUST PENALITIES.

That's with everything still at 50.... sometimes I think this game cheats... like then and when my QB decides to pull a Neil O'Donnell and throw to the OTHER TEAM 3 times in a row... but that's another discussion.
