Re: How's Your Career Doing?

I am now 1-4 with the Falcons. Tonight was a rough night for playing HC. I won my first game of the season, beating the Panthers who are doing horrible this season. I was very pleased to get my first win. I also got Asante Samuel back from injury so he was able to play his first game. I can tell you one thing, it makes a big difference having a highly skilled CB in.

However, I lost my second game of the night to the Packers even with Samuel in. And this loss hurt a bit. I had a lot of injuries with my DTs. They seem to get beat on a lot, I think I need to rotate them more. But the worst part was how the last minute and a half went down. I lost the game 16-10. I had managed to drive down the field so I was on their 5 yard line, 1st down, with 1:30 to go. What happened, well I chose an outside running play. Oops. I had no timeouts left. Well I ran it 4 times and failed to score and lost the game. I was so pissed. Just watching it play out and all I could do was hope I had enough restraint not to throw my controller. I am so glad this is being fixed in the patch as I am too stupid apparently to keep myself from getting screwed with the current 2 minute drill.

Also, I had two sacks with Glenn Dorsey. Or so the announcer said during the game. But he had no sacks listed in the game stats. He had 3 TFLs, maybe the sacks were incorrectly listed there.

Re: How's Your Career Doing?

Now 2-2 with the Falcons, but I have had a soft early schedule. The one decent team I played was Tampa, and while the score was close the game wasn't.

I have inserted Andre Woodson in to the lineup and he's up and down as you would expect. I have gotten decent production from Jonathan Stewart but he simply can't stay on the field due to injuries.

I have a feeling this will be my only season with the Falcons and I'll be looking for new employment in the off-season.

I have the Packers at their place next, I don't have much of a shot in that game.

Post Re: How's Your Career Doing?

I went and took over the steelers with my own created coach, focusing on the running game cuz thats where their offensive strength is and i kept the same playbooks cuz i didnt want everyone to relearn everything (mistake) considering i wanted to focus on a fast outside run game and man defense instead of the power inside running and blitz heavy defense. Its been going okay for me though, in my first season as head coach i went 10-6, beating the super bowl champion giants at the last second with a field goal but then taking losses to NE and indy, BAD losses too. I got pittman from FA for the inside game and mike hart in like the 6th of the draft and pittman was a bust while hart was decent enuff. willie struggled all year and ended the season with like 800 or so yards. i took otah in the first and greco later on and otah was a bust cuz he only had an 84 pot while greco had the same and he was drafted in the 5th or so also got samual to give my CBs a good chance. i wasnt very prepared for that draft and wouldnt rate it one of my best and i think thats why my offense struggled all year but my defense dominated with farrior winning DPOTY. i beat the bills in the wildcard with a stunning comeback down 14 in the fourth and then dominated on the colts in the divisional game 42-7 where i was up 35-0 at half and got 2 picks in the endzone from manning which was nice after how they murdered us earlier in the season. i was riding on a high heading into the AFC championship game against NE, the other team that dominated me. i felt since i redeemed myself against indy the same could be done against the pats, at half we were up 14-7, then brady decided to be brady and led the pats on THREE touchdown drives in a row while their defense ran through my offense and they beat us 28-14 at final. I was sad but also happily anxious for the draft and FA since i had more experience in the game and the guide plus this site to help me out. i fired arians as my OC thinking i could pick up a college coach to run a better system with but since i went so deep into the playoffs only a crap coach was available, which upset me but i dealt with it.

I went into FA and let fanaca go (franchise tagged him the previous year) cuz he wanted too much money to keep and i wasnt gonna kill my cap this time around. i picked up isaac bruce and andre woodson, and some others that arent coming to mind right now but i wanted the bulk of my cap to be saved for the draft. i got rid of pittman and traded some players for picks. i spent hours researching the draft, i picked up Montario Tartt III in the first, a nice wide receiver compared to T.O. with a pot. of 92, then i got a CB named Bowe-Drew cuz he ran a 4.19 forty in the 2nd, the HB sleeper named Jarvin Warren from Dayton (which is where i live ) and i also picked up a FB, a TE named Mays and a couple of LBs, one compared to shawn merriman and another to jason taylor, then a QB late and a couple more HBs that slipped late because of who they were compared to, albert wright (adrian peterson) and evan goode (jamal lewis). Im a big running back guy so i couldnt pass up having 5 of them lol.

the best from this draft id say would be jarvin warren. he has been a total beast and his potential is only 87 in my system but he has outplayed parker for the starting job and has ran for about 900 yds in 13 or 14 games despite not starting til a couple days in, better than parker all the previous year so im gonna try to trade him for picks cuz i gave up my 1 &2 and otah to the jets so i could get MT3. i think it went well since warren is the current leader for OROTY and MT3 and my TE are all in the running as well 5 and 3 respectively.

the season started off good with a 3-0 start. then, the losses came. i lost to the packers 24-23 cuz my offense, in field goal range, decided to keep passing it with seconds left in their 2 min offense. then a couple more losses in a row and i went from 1st in my division to 3rd, but with the exception of a miserable performance against NE AGAIN, my team has been rolling along, we dominated the bears 30-3, then the vikings 23-13 and just got redemption on cincy 13-0 since they are one of the teams that beat us in that string of losses. currently im 8-4 and with a better offense and a stellar defense (farrior, harrison, dre moore, samual and polamalu are beasts for me.) im looking to win the super bowl, even tho i dont have THE #1 offense and defense, which is what the fans wanted, and since a SB victory is what the coach expects lol. i guess going to the AFC championship just to lose wasnt good enough for the owner and he upped his expectations. well i know this was long but ill update how the season goes on, and i know it was organized but eh, a lot has happened in this game which is AWESOME and its 5am lol.

Re: How's Your Career Doing?

I've got two going so I'll give quick updates on both.

Bengals:

Key free agents: Karlos Dansby (ROLB), John Welbourn (RG), Rob Pettiti (RT), Grady Jackson (DT)

Draft:
1st-Sedrick Ellis (DT)
2nd-Calais Campbell (RE)
3rd-William Hayes (LE)
4th-Will Franklin (WR)
5th-Keenan Burton (WR)
6th-Corey Lynch (FS)

Ellis, Campbell and Dansby have been huge pickups for me on defense. Burton turned out to be a gem and is already a 74 overall and is my 3rd receiver. After 7 games, I'm 5-2 with my only losses coming to the Cowboys and Browns.

Dolphins:

I made myself a virtuoso and will use the Whisenhunt power run on offense and the Tampa 2 on defense.

I made some solid FA signings to give me depth and quality at a lot of positions. I signed Quinn Gray (QB), L.J. Smith (TE), Stacy Andrews (LG), Jason Fabini (RG), David Stewart (RT), Drayton Florence (CB) and Marlon McCree (SS).

I traded an 09 4th-round draft pick for MLB Matt Wilhelm and then traded an '10 4th and 5th rounder for RE Elvis Dumervil.

So then we enter the draft and there were a lot of guys I liked so I knew I'd make some draft day trades. So here goes:
First round: Jake Long (LT, 1st), Mike Jenkins (CB, 17th), Kenny Phillips (SS, 32)
Second round: James Hardy (WR, 9th), Brian Brohm (QB, 18th)
Fourth round: Chad Rhinehart (LG, 1st)
Sixth round: Kellen Davis (TE, 1st)
Seventh round: Andre Woodson (QB, 1st)

I moved Jason Taylor for the 18th pick in the second round to snatch up my QB of the future hopefully. I also moved up for Jenkins and Davis but the best part is through all my trades, I didn't lose a first or second round draft pick.

Undrafted FAs that will likely make the roster: Dorien Bryant (WR), Nick Hayden (DT), Robert James (OLB). Bryant (73) and Hayden (75) seem to be gems but it's still training camp so I don't know for sure yet. Andre Woodson didn't seem like a perfect fit for the offense I'm running but he's already shown me a lot as he went from a 40 overall to a 72 and is gobbling up the playbook. Jake Long also is eating up the playbook.

I do. As of now, I am 2-2 with the Broncos. Beat Oakland 24-20, lost to SD 17-10, beat the Saints 33-30, and just lost to the Chiefs 31-19. My defensive line is teh sux, so to speak lol. I was offered a trade for Darren Howard and took him, but it hasn't helped much. I'm hoping to get a good DT in the draft to go along with a suprising Marcus Thomas. Jarvis Moss tore his ACL, so I don't know what the deal is with him. He is only rated 69, but I think he could end up to be a good end if I work with him enough.

Clady, Marshall and Royal have been studs on offense, but everyone else has been "meh". Cutler has been solid, but he is killing me with the interceptions. Young is a solid back, but he needs a better line to be great.

Overall I think if we win a couple close games we can make the playoffs, but I'm not to sure that will happen.

Re: How's Your Career Doing?

Created a coach with the Bears. Personality type is anchor. Put some skill points into performance and team chemistry. Also purchased special skills QB readiness and something else, cant remember. Then I spread the rest out amongst the skills (mostly in intangibles and knowledge for various positions).

Ill just give a brief recap of the offseason:
- Franchise tagged Briggs
- Nothing in RFA
- Signed a few free agents...here are the important ones:
- Jordan Gross
- Javon Walker
Didnt do a whole lot more with FA, the Briggs deal really cut into my CAP space
- Draft:
- Rnd 1: Traded pick 14 for Arizona's 17th pick
- Rnd 1: Felix Jones
- Rnd 1: Traded up to get Miamis 32nd pick. Traded away Desmond Clark and some picks
- Rnd 1: Kenny Phillips
- Rnd 3: Andre Woodson
- Rnd 3: Traded up to draft Mario Manningham
- No notable unsigned rookies
- Preseason:
- Went 0-4
- Decided on Grossman as my starting QB
- Realized Manningham and Woodson are gonna be good
- Felix Jones missed the first 3 preseason games, so he was a little behind going into the regular season
- Regular Season:
- Currently 1-3
- Approval Rating is 25 or so
- Grossman got hurt in the 4th quarter of the second game
- Brought Woodson in for the Tampa game and got the win
- Felix Jones had a big game against Tampa (91 yds), other than that hasnt done much
- Prolly gonna get fired, haha
