Pause your career, go to settings-->Coach Clipboard

Scroll down to "Play Creator Hint" and uncheck Show Me.

The Play Creator pop up on the coach's clipboard will never appear, so you can't accidentally pop into it in a rush.

I agree, awesome tip. Last night I clicked the A button a bit too fast (silly free agents kept bothering the hell out of me!) and it brought up the play editor.. fortunately I hit the "Cancel" button on the screen that came up, but it was a close one.
