Cap penalties

When choosing to put your players on the trade block, there is a penalty number next to the cap number. Does this penalty only apply when you release that player, or will you also get the cap penalty if you trade the player away?

I think in the real NFL you get a penalty for trading a player, just wondering if its the same way in the game. If so, how would you get rid of a big contract, because I believe you will get fires for taking a huge cap penalty.

Thanks.

Re: Cap penalties

If I understand the rule, you will be penalized they players Bonus. His new team will pay his salary.

I got this next part from wiki:

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I wonder if that is how it is implemented in the game? There are some salaries I would like to try to offload, but don't want to be hit with the penalty. Maybe I'll try saving before the trade is made and if the penalty is applied I'll just reload.

Releasing or trading a player will incur a penalty equal to the player's remaining signing bonus. If you release the player before June, the penalty will apply to the current year. Otherwise, the penalty will apply to the next year.

Contract incentives achieved will also be applied to next year's cap penalty.

No likely to be earned/unlikely to be earned logic in the game yet?

Not complaining, it works fine either way, just curious.

No reason to be sorry. If I had a complaint about player contracts, it'd be the fact that we can't negotiate length at all. The incentives as is are just fine.
