How's Everyone Beginning Their Careers?

I just want to see what different folks are doing.

1. Which Coach personality are you selecting?
2. Where are you starting - off-season of 2008 (allows a draft re-do) or pre-season 2008?

I restarted my career after I found out about the injury bug. I went with the Bears this time, as opposed to the Falcons, who I usually use.

1. I went with the Guru personality.
2. For the heck of it, I'm starting off in the off-season.

Re: How's Everyone Beginning Their Careers?

I went with the Falcons for my first real career since they have a new head coach in real life. I had previously done a test career with the Saints to get a feel for the off season stuff.

I created a new coach, tried the Virtuoso personality.
I started in the off season.

Re: How's Everyone Beginning Their Careers?

I started my career Pre-Draft with the Texans. I wanted to rebuild the team my way in FA and Draft. It's a lot more fun that way. I'm 4-0 right now ready to take on the 3-0 Colts.

To stay away from the injury bug is to not go into "PLAY CREATER" from your clipboard. If you want to create plays do it when you are playing a game.

Re: How's Everyone Beginning Their Careers?

To warm up to the game, I used my Seahawks in two "Coach Now" games.

Then, I did about three 'test runs' with creating a coach for the Seahawks and going thru the preseason stuff and a preseason game or two.

Then I decided I was a little overwhelmed with coach creation and some aspects of the preseason, so I got the PRIMA guide...and now life is much better

Post-PRIMA, I created a new coach for the Seahawks that I'm quite happy with. Commander, focus on RB and DL (two of our biggest deficits). The PRIMA guide REALLY helped sort out coach creation and lots of other stuff, like negotiating contracts, etc.

Started in pre-season w/existing draft. 1-1 in preseason so far, approval of 74...and really enjoying this game! And IMO, the PRIMA guide is required reading.

And I can't WAIT to get a competent trainer! LOL

I chose Promoter (created coach, just decided to use Tomlin's) with the Steelers, started in pre-season. Just wanted to get a feel for career mode, now will start a real one.

Re: How's Everyone Beginning Their Careers?

I am a tradionalist coach with the Redskins. I've spent most of my points on the passing game. QB, WR, OL. I am having a lot of fun. I got my first win in the 3rd preseason game. This game is so much fun. It's franchise mode is a thing of beauty.

Re: How's Everyone Beginning Their Careers?

I'm on a career with my Jets after wetting my feet on some test-careers just to get a feel for the game and what does what

Coach Type: HEADLINER (oh ya babe! pressure?! bring it on)

Initial Coach Build:
--Playcalling: 4/5 (I set my playcalling philosophy to be done by HC not my coords)
--Charisma -> LEADERSHIP (25,000 points right there, ouch)
--Performance: 2/5 (first order of business is to get this right here to at least the 5,000 point level)

Team: JETS
Off Playbook: Shanahan Zone Block
Def Playbook: Phillips' 3-4
