Options are prefer to bench, balance, or prefer to start.

Re: What does this mean? Simple question.

read it from the option to the category..

ie:

BENCH PLAYER

Start Rookie HB
Prefers to

so that would read.. your philosophies are..
Prefers to -> start rookie HB's

same with the others..

ie:

BENCH MEDIA COMPLAINER
Neutral

you'd be
Neutral to benching the players who whine to the media

hope that helps

Re: What does this mean? Simple question.

But why is there a setting for "bench" if it's just a category?

That applies to benching players when they sit out of training camp, skip practice, complain to the media, etc.

If you delegate what happens to those players, this philosophy determines that.

because there are different situations you want to set your philosophy for.. again, it's the way you read it that way it makes sense..

ie: if you set your philosophy thus
BENCH
SKIP PRACTICE
Prefers To

you're basically telling the game..
you PREFER TO -> BENCH -> Players who skip practice

and yes.. there are game situations like that.. for example:
I have a FB who literally "ran away for the weekend with his hollywood girlfriend"

and I had my philosophy set to Neutral? anyhows he didn't get benched, LOL but that had me laughing
