Re: Have you heard of Leo Farnsworth? [My Coaching Career Thread]

September 14--

"I'm Adam Schefter, and you're watching the NFL Network. Finally, our last game was the Oakland Raiders at the Kansas City Chiefs. Blame it on the rain says I as the Raiders and Chiefs played through a monsoon in Kansas City. This one wasn't as close as the score indicates because the Raiders were in control the whole game racking up an AMAZING 42:38 in time of possession. Both Chiefs touchdowns came late in the 4th quarter and the first was due to some inexperience on Coach Farnsworth's part."

"I don't know what I was thinking. It was 4th and 8 with still 9 minutes left in the game, I just didn't think Herm would go for it at that point so I went for the block and I didn't even see that Croyle was still out there. The rain was coming down so hard at that point I don't think any of our players saw who was out there either so Croyle had an easy 48 yard completion for a TD. That was my bad."

"Raiders are now 2 and 0 and shuffle off to Buffalo next."

Don't let that call phase you, happens all the time, especially when they are going for a FG and don't see the WR/TE out there lined up normally.

"Again, thanks for coming, just a couple quick announcements then I have to step out.

Backup LG Wakefield was injured Sunday and he'll be out 4-5 weeks with a strained tricep. We've got a tough game ahead of us at Buffalo, I'm just sore it will not be snowing. I love snow games.

"Coach, it's your first regular season loss. Can you tell us what happened?"

"Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. We just couldn't get anything going on Sunday. We were flat, there was no energy and I blame myself for that."

"Do you regret not going for it on fourth down in overtime when you were in Buffalo territory?"

"Regret? No. Would I make the same call? Well if you listen to all the Monday morning quarterbacks, I guess I should have gone for it. For now, I'm the goat, it was my decision, perhaps I played it a little too close to the vest."

"You're getting a lot of negative press right now, how does that make you feel?"

"The same way it makes me feel when it is positive. They have their job to do and I have mine. Unfortunately, this week they're doing their job better than I am this week."

Coach Farnsworth leaves the podium.

"As you can see Coach Farnsworth is visibly upset, and no wonder after losing starting C John Wade for at least a week, but on the brighter side, they'll have a lot of guys back from injuries and they'll need them for the trip down south to San Diego. I'm Adam Schefter, and you're watching the NFL Network."

"Hi, I'm Leo Farnsworth, and you're watching the NFL Network."

"And folks, I just got off the phone with Coach Farnsworth and he is beside himself. Oakland's trainer is unable to diagnose starting DT Terdel Sands' injury he sustained during practice on Thursday. Coach told me he has no idea whether Sands will be able to play and hopes to get a report soon. As soon as we hear, we'll pass on the news to you.

Welcome to the NFL Coach Leo Farnsworth. I'm Adam Schefter and this is the NFL Network. We'll be right back."

Re: Have you heard of Leo Farnsworth? [My Coaching Career Thread]

Sept 28--

"Here now is our Andrea Turner with Coach Farnsworth in Oakland."

Andrea leans close into the face of Coach Farnsworth so that he can hear her questions over the roar of the celebrating fans in Oakland.

"Coach, how were you able to come out with a victory here against your division rivals, the Chargers?"

"It wasn't easy, Andrea. We had to play our absolute best against San Diego. They are an amazing team. I'm especially proud of our defensive guys and Coach Ryan. When you hold a walk-in Hall of Famer like L.T. to only I think it was like 25 yards, then you know all the sweat and hard work that these guys poured out all week really paid off. Our offense also did a great job today. It was a great all-around effort by everyone today. They looked sharp and precise and we didn't make a lot of mistakes, which is what you have to do to even have a chance against a well coached and talented team like San Diego."

"Thank you, Coach, Adam, back to you in the studio."

"So Coach who? Farnsworth is beginning to make a name for himself. The Raiders have started the season 3-1 for the first time since 2002 when they went 4 & 0 and lost to their former Head Coach Jon Gruden in the Super Bowl."
