Realism: Cowboys Meltdown

Just had to share this dose of realism from my 2nd season with the Chicago Bears. After a middling season that saw them grab the last wildcard slot, the Dallas Cowboys beat two 10+ win teams to end up playing against us in the Conference Championship. Looking at their roster I was worried, Romo, Barber, Owens, Crayton, and Witten all had nice ratings and their line was solidly between the mid 80s and low 90s. They also had a rookie WR who was tearing it up, giving them formidable weapons. After squeaking out a 35-33 win over the Giants in the Divisional round where I needed some goaline stops to force FG's, I was concerned about facing a team that finally put all the pieces together.

Flashing forward to the championship game, Romo proceeds to throw 3 INT's, including a "pick six" to Nathan Vasher and gets knocked out of the game, forcing Chris Simms to take over. Jake Scott passes all over the Cowboys secondary and my Bears win in a romp 38-6.

Nice to see the Head Coach team hard-program in the Cowboys' annual meltdown in the playoffs. Possibly one of the best examples of "realism" I have seen in this game.

Nice try, but Tony Romo was 16 years old the last time they won a playoff game. This generations Cowboys are last generations Bills (except the Bills actually won playoff games).

On the flip side - what about the Bears making it to the super bowl and actually winning? That pretty much counters any realism there.

didn't say they won the Super Bowl, just said they made it there.

Touche! But then again, my Seventy year old father never thought he would ever see the White Sox win the World Series, so ya gotta keep hope alive! Maybe there's a Jake Scott in the 2009 Draft for the Bears.
