Re: Making a Sweetney draft guide

Okay well I finished year 2.

-I added player comparisons at the request of the one user. Because of this I am not highlighting whose names are randomized. Players can easily be identified through colleges and player comparisons, as those remain constant.

-I will forgo doing an actual mock draft. It wouldn't be that helpful because there are so many variables that can end up drastically changing the draft results. Such as the pick order, team needs, GM draft philosophies, etc. A mock draft wouldn't be that practical.

-I have heard no feedback on my third question so I'm assuming that the whole "standout players" thing is unnecessary.

Any additional comments, suggestions, complaints, etc are welcome.

Re: Making a Sweetney draft guide

The whole project is technically unnecessary.

However, if you'd have fun putting that together, I'd love to see it at some point. Right now though, I'm anxious for the main guide. I just started another career to go with this guide. I created a coach with the Patriots using the online roster, simmed a season and then jumped in as Miami's head coach. Miami has big problems in year 2 and is going to be a big project. They have real weak talent and LOTS of long term high bonus contracts on those weak players.

Sure, it's 'cheating' to use a guide rather than scouting for myself, but in this first season I really need to use the draft effectively or it will be many seasons before the team gets anything close to competitive.

Thanks for your work on this...hope it's not just work for you.

Re: Making a Sweetney draft guide

Suggestion 3 would be cool but I think it'd be interesting to see just the main spreadsheet first before you invest a ton of time in suggestion 3. I'm already in year 2 of this path but your spreadsheet could help me kill some time while my PS3 is collecting dust witha broken blu-ray drive.
I will continue badgering Sony until I get a free repair. I guess it could be years before I can play again
