Scrambling QB with Wishbone?

Anyone ever run this type of offense? I remember reading that there was a coach that comes from college (General Sanders?) that brings the wishbone with him. Anyone ever play with a Josh Johnson-type QB as the starter with Sanders?

I haven't even seen anyone who has tried the Wishbone in this game. You should do it and report back! No need to wait for Sanders, just start a new career with that playbook.

Re: Scrambling QB with Wishbone?

My very first go 'round with this game I used a wishbone with Josh Johnson as my QB. It can work for you if you're patient enough to wait on Johnson to learn the playbook.

When you run the option out of it, the QB will almost always keep the ball. In Johnson's case, he's great to get outside with his speed and acceleration. The triple option out of the wishbone tight formation is a great weapon to use on a man to man defense.

If you're expecting to throw the ball a lot, he's not a good QB to use because 7 times out of 10 he'll get happy feet and take off running. If you're in the mood to pound the rock though, get yourself a big fullback and a shifty HB and you're off to the races.

After my career with San Francisco is over, I may give this a try. Are there any Mike Vick clones in this game? I'm sure they avoided putting his name anywhere in the game, but I had to ask.

Re: Scrambling QB with Wishbone?

haven't ever seen a Vick clone, but I've seen a couple of undrafted guys who are pretty fast with absolutely awful throwing ability. Keep a look out in the workouts for fast 40 times and you should have a decent option QB who you can develop over the next few seasons.

I've heard that there is a Tyrelle Pryor clone (did I spell that right), but I haven't seen him. It sounds like he'd be a great addition to any option offense.

Do they really use Pryor's name?

I think they should do a patch where the scrambling QB comparison comes up as: Ron Mexico.

Re: Scrambling QB with Wishbone?

I've used it w/ VY. Had its bright and darl spots. The VY was absolutely erractic w/ the pitch. Some times it'd be a smart great pitch, other times it'd the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I have mixed feelings on it, I may try it again to see if maybe I was doing something wrong, b/c I'm almost certain the option plays I was calling were mastered.
