Kicker not improving

I drafted a kicker who is a 97 potential, with 99 Accuracy and Strength in potential. However after 5 years he is only up to an 83, and doesn't seem to learn very quickly.

When he was a rookie my ST coach was utter crap, and we went to the superbowl 4 years in a row so I could never get much better. Now I have a real ST coach (Giants crushed us 37-0 in the wildcard round), but he still isn't responding. Is he just broken thanks to all his bad coaches? And now that he is 29 he can't learn anymore?

Pretty sure learning inhibits his growth.

Hes a kicker. What does his learning matter?
Also what does his overall matter if he has 99 kpower and 99 kaccuracy

Ignore the overall for the moment...

compare his stats with other kickers and evaluate him on just his on field performance. If your happy with that don't sweat the overall.

You GMs Kicker evaluation skills might come into play too.

I've had poor success evaluating talent at that spot too, since my GM is only a level 2 for kickers.

make sure your learning development skills for kickers are maxed if his learning is that bad.

His learning is 99, but his coaches up until this year were all 1 or 2 in development skills and 1 in performance.

His Accuracy and Power are 99 potential, he is languishing around 82 accuracy. I ended up trading him for a 3rd round pick and getting a rookie who is up to 87/95 in his first year.
