The "Motivator" special attribute

get ambition to start, then get charm. i get this skill as soon as possible (usually by season 1 in week 5) i helps me tremendously

I'm curious if players who have been affected by the motivator skill lose their increased potentials once they are no longer playing under the head coach that "motivated" them. If not, then it seems like a double edged sword. Once the players contracts are up you'd pretty much have to let them all go. And most of them probably wouldn't reach their potential by that time, anyway.

I think they only get the bonus while playing for that coach.

No, they keep their Motivated potentials even after they leave the coach that Motivated them. You'll see potentials drop if they aren't close to reaching their Motivated potentials. I released 1 Motivated kicker once, and he still had his motivated potential when I re-signed him 2 years later.
