Does the CPU change player positions?

Does the CPU change player positions around? Like a ROLB to a LOLB? I don't think they do, and that makes me feel like I'm cheating. Please share any knowledge you might have on this. Thanks.

Re: Does the CPU change player positions?

Off the cuff, I can't think of a time I've seen the CPU change a position. I beleive they use the "Depth Chart" like a player does.

Example: you'll see 4 LOLB's on a roster and only 1 ROLB (who in this example is injured) at the start of a game when you are naming your inactive players. When the game starts, the player who normally starts at LOLB will be there and the best available ROLB will start as well (...likely the #2 LOLB or #2MLB). Basically, which ever player rates the highest who isn't already starting.

I could be wrong... if so, someone will jump in and correct me.

Taking away my own ability to change positions has made drafting a lot harder. It was an unfair advantage that the computer didn't have. It makes how you look at personnel decisions very different.

I know the computer changes positions sometimes. I've seen Brandon Albert moved from guard to tackle. I'm not sure how often it happens, but it does on occasion.

that's only because the Chiefs drafted him as a Tackle, even though he played Guard in college.

If you skip the 2008 draft, they'll have him at tackle.
I'm not sure what happens if he were drafted by another team.

I think they do, only in case of injuries, then the depth chart takes over. It really makes it interesting trying to find players without this option.

Nagta is a DE in my roster set as I think the Ravens use him as DE for the 3-4. I moved him to DT when I took over the Ravens and his potential goes up to the low 90's.
