    Option plays

I know next to nothing about Madden or Head Coach

There's a play designer in head coach, right? Right.

    Can one create option plays?

In creating these sorts of plays, could I get my offensive linemen to leave someone on the defense unblocked so that I can get a true option read on that player?

For instance, if I wanted to make a triple option to the right from an I formation with a Slot WR to my right , could I get my right tackle to the block down (or inside to the middle linebacker) and read the give/keep on that unblocked defensive end

and then get my Slot to leave the OLB unblocked and block the safety so I can make a keep/pitch read on that unblocked OLB?

I'm asking because, although I prefer college football, NCAA seems to be created by/for people who do not understand the importance of blocking schemes in football.
If I can do what I need to to create true double or triple options in head coach and then move them to madden, I'd def. buy them.

    Thanks.

    Re: Option plays

In the play creator, make sure you go to the running plays, and select Create New. There are QB choices, QB wraps, speed options, and triple options.

The problem is that all runs are pre-designed by the devs, so to get a formation that you want, you will have to move players around, and it may not look the same as the stock formations (e.g. if you want to use a 3TE set but there isn't one in the stock plays, you'll need to move a WR, and he'll keep a WR stance).

No, you won't be able to assign which defensive player or direction that the offensive lineman will block. Its just a generic run block or pass block option. That would be really good if they incorporated that into the next hc, if there is going to be another hc...

        Re: Option plays

        Whats up Stylee?

I know what you are looking for and HC09 doesn't have it. The zone blocking interaction is pretty good on HC but the option plays and most counters the blocking is not realistic and pretty terrible. You can create plays and the playbooks already have most of the option plays you would be looking for i.e. flexbone, I, gun zone read and triple but there is no way to get the blocking right. Even worse you do not control the players so often the QB's make terrible decisions and the plays look pretty bad.

I guess our only hope is to keep posting about it and hope they can fix it for NCAA11.

Oh, the play editor isn't that bad for pass plays - but it does blow chunks for running plays.

I must say I enjoy creating defensive plays though. I normally grab talented players that can play the entire field and will move them into better positions on different plays to allow for max use(Ravens is a good example)

Then again you might be talking about the injury bug and in that matter I feel you lol. I am so glad they fixed that.

Sometimes I'll make joke plays with stupid routes and what-not, and they'll become my most successful plays! And when I take it seriously I get my *** busted.

Cause I'm bored and skipping studying for finals...

in this generic run block... can it be directional? Like Zone Run Block Left, so my tackle wouldn't block someone over his right shoulder?

I've never seen the QB pitch the ball (on an option) in HC, can anyone tell me if they've seen it?

Luckily Josh Johnson has good trucking
