Playbooks

What are some of the best ones to use? Also, how big can a Playbook be? And have you ever filled up a playbook?

Offensive playbooks rated Very Strong: Tom Moore Pass Attack, Garret Pass Attrack, Patriots Air Strike, Martz Air Attack, and Holmgren West Coast.

Defensive playbooks rated Very Strong: Tampa 2, Jim Johnson Blitz, Jags Physical D, Le Beau Zone Blitz, and Rex Ryan 4-6. I think I saw that the 3-2-6 college playbooks was also rated Very Strong.

I think a playbook can have a max of 200 plays; I've never reached the max yet.

Re: Playbooks

I use Holmgren's West Coast, and LeBeau's Zone Blitz playbooks.

Re: Playbooks

I am not sure about how big a playbook can get, and I have not yet filled up one either... But for ur first question I have found 3 on each side of the ball that are rated Strong that I have also liked...

Offense- 1. Bengals Vertical Pass
2. Shannan's Zone Block
3. Steelers Smashmouth

Defense- 1. Cardinals Blitz
2. Dungy Cover 2
3. 3-3-5

Re: Playbooks

I don't know how much "strong" v. "weak" matters. I remember somewhere that the playbook size determines the rating it gets.

Re: Playbooks

The playbook you choose at the beginning is EXTREMELY important. If you're a simmer or a supersimmer, then it singlehandedly determines your playcalling. Plus, you can't change it after you select one.

Meaning if you choose:
Pittsburgh: You're always going to get a lot of runs
San Diego: Your TE's will be targeted more
Patriots: You will pass a whole heck of a lot more than you run

For that reason, I prefer Dallas's offensive playbook, mainly because I seem to get an offense that's more balanced that lets say New England. I sim though, so if you're calling your own plays then you don't have to worry too much about it.

Re: Playbooks

My personal opinion on best playbooks are as follows:

Offense:

College Attack (by far and away the most effective playbook for scoring a ton of points as there are a lot of money plays that very rarely get stopped)

Defense:

I stick to a 3-4 or 4-2-5 defense as I am a relentless blitzing style coach.

Cheers!
