What are the most sacks your "defensive player" had on one season?

To put it bluntly...an otherworldly amount....if I remember correctly my first year with my 49ers I had Takeo Spikes get something like 45 sacks....no BS (Willis had 32 and Lawson had 23- I didn't even use him all that much). I think a lot of it had to deal with the fact that Singletary is the LB coach and I had all of his special skills plus I design a lot of my own custom blitz packages and I use my favorite money play blitz which is the 4-2-5 middle blitz (play press coverage, spread out the DL's and pinch in your LB's and sacks happen on demand)...the end result is a sack 85% of the time...depending on the QB I am facing...some QB's get rid of the ball fast and are really hard to sack (Brady, Both Mannings, Favre, and even Matt Leinart was a pain in the *** to get sacks on too...weird).
A tip for everyone...if you want to get sacks like that...it requires that you have block shedding and speed special skills for your coaches...these are the two special skills I noticed that made a huge difference.
As a note...I don't remember the sliders that I used for that season...that is ages ago now, but I remember it because of my ridiculous defense...

LOL...yeah it is a great blitz to use...to make it really effective you have to use the adjustments just right sometimes...I always use press coverage because the QB looks to throw the ball right away with the heat coming, but with press coverage on it forces the QB to hold onto it just long enough to get sacked. It also depends on how fast and how good your LB's are. Willis very rarely gets blocked...he usually destroys the RB's. However, mind you my success has a lot to do with the special skills I believe though.

MY MLB had 56 sacks in one year. This was using the 3-3-5 system where the 2 CBs, the 2 SSs and the FS play man coverage while the DLine and LBs all blitz. It was always the MLB that got free.
The MLB is question was Alonzi Simms.
As an additional question what is the most sacks you've ever had in one game. For me it was on another franchise were Simms recorded 17 sacks against the RaidersComment

The Raiders are usally very easy to pile sacks up on, I got 12 sacks in one game against them with Dummervil, (6 sacks alone in the 1st quarter)
I have had very much sucess with the Texans using their default playbook... Mario-15, Okam-12, Travis Johnson-11, Okye-17, and Dummervil-28 sacks... That is with no blitzing... (Suggs helping at de added 22 sacks)
Elvis Dummervil is scary fast and moved over to left end he can cause some mayhem all by himself... He is a great 3rd down pass rushing speacilists...
But career best has to be with the Ravens in which Dummervil and Suggs each posted 33 sacks a peice...Georgia Bulldogs

The fact that you can get so many sacks make sup for QB's being too good in the game. If you pressure them enough you can slow them down.Comment

Not really, because when I used the Texans I wouldn't blitz and good QBs like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would just pick me apart all day, but guys like Jamarcus Russell, Vince Young, Brodie Croyle, and the great Ken Dorsey would hold onto the ball and my line would get to them...
If the o-line can't block and the qb can't make a decision to who to throw the ball to then he deserves a sack... It ain't like we are in the huddle with them or lining up in the backfield waiting for them to snap the ball to sack them...
Besides my friend can barley get sacks with his Titans, but lord forbid he picks off passes all day long... 12 ints against the Raiders, 9 ints against the Cheifs and 10 against the great Ken Dorsey and his mighty Dolphins... He maybes get 5-6 sacks in those games...

most of my sacks come from 3rd and long situations or when its late in the game (as is expected), i'm not running one play all the time it just seems its always the same guy who comes through with the hit rather than in real life where the sacks are more distributedComment
