Epic QB dilemma

(edit - if it matters I'm using the Steelers Smashmouth Playbook and will be running 70%-80% of the time)
Hey I have an epic QB dilemma I started a lions franchise. I traded John Kitna - 79 pot and I planned to draft Andre Woodson but the Saints traded up in round 3 and snatched him up way 2 early so I was screwed. In despiration I drafted all the QBs I can, Josh Johnson and Alex Brink. They both have 92 Balanced POT but only have like 56 OVR after a half each of preseason. I can't decide who to play I will probially play a game each in preseason and see who does better here's * there stats, they both can devolp quite a bit * * but their Intangibles are awfly low
(Current Stat / POT)
Johnson
Thp 92
Tha 64 88*
Awr 45 96
Spd 92*
Int 55
Lrn 56 92*

Brink
Thp 84*
Tha 60 91*
Awr 46 94
Spd 63 *
Int 53
Lrn 53 93

What is your guys input or ideas?

Re: Epic QB dilemma

If you're going to be running the ball 70-80% of the time, I don't think it really matters which player is your QB.

Re: Epic QB dilemma

Yeah but I still need a guy to pick up 3rd and 10s after I get a penalty. I will still need someone to throw the other 20%-30% of the time though I agree QB isn't all that important

Re: Epic QB dilemma

Use johnson. If you use him right, you could have that VY-CJ effect.

Re: Epic QB dilemma

An interesting dilemma...

Personally, I'd go with Brink. Accuracy is my determining factor. Brink may not have epic arm strength, but if you are primarily running the ball, then you'll want to be accurate. However, Johnson isn't without his role. I'd use him as a wildcat type QB (if you want to go that route) running primarily option plays. In this situation, I'd almost use Brink as a 3rd down QB (similar to a 3DRB that is brought in after 3rd and 5), just use the play creater in game to bring him in on the longer third downs.

Again, take it with a grain of salt, this is just my personal opinion on what I'd do in that situation.

Re: Epic QB dilemma

Thanks for the input. I don't have any QB run plays other than QB sneak though I will likely be adding them soon. I had Josh Johnson before and he is great running the option but his throwing stats take a while to devolp. I will likely try both of them in strategic situations, even In regular season if need be until someone emerges. I'll let u know how everything works

Re: Epic QB dilemma

I would go with Johnson, better accuracy and throw power and more speed and everything else seems the same.
