Re: Do you think head coach will return?
Yes, in Madden 2012. If EA is really dedicating two years to franchise mode, then it better be better than Head Coach. If so, you can play coach mode and have Head Coach 12.
Honestly though, I doubt we'll see another one, and I doubt M12's franchise will have every feature head coach has now.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I would LOVE another HC, but I simply don't believe sales were enough to convince EA to allocate the resources to make another one...but then again, how well did the original Head Coach sell? One never knows...
If Madden's 'chise mode is even 50% as in-depth as HC09 was, it'd be amazing.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
Honestly I don't understand why they can't wholesale lift things from 09 and just put them in the franchise mode. Finally got Madden for the first time since my favorite team won their first Superbowl, and tried the Franchise mode and was mystified how anyone could enjoy that.
If they just take the draft classes from 09, shuffle the players and drafts in the 4 paths, changed all the names, and redistributed the future 50, they'd be golden. It can't be that hard to get Schefter or Collinsworth to talk even more as I am sure they just love doing that sort of thing.
The only thing I kinda like about Madden Franchise is the lack of the whole "real time" thing. I thought it worked better that way. They can just list all the free agents that are up for auction and other things that were normally real-time in some menu option during each week instead.
If this means it is too much to fit on a disk, make part of the game download upon online access. Hell, even if they just made the more complex features a 50 dollar download add-on, I would pay that price -/.
If they just don't want to record all those voices again like in Head Coach, they could just do some newspaper thing. Then players could even create their own draft classes that way too.Comment

So here's hoping we can get the best of both worlds. Gameplay of Madden for those who like it it, and deep strategy for those of us who like the managerial aspect of football.Comment

I hope its true. I have been looking forward to another HC, would settle for an in depth franchise in Madden.Comment

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
A few months back they admitted that 2011 would see absolutely no Franchise improvements beyond the crucial stat-tuning because they didn't feel they could get what they wanted to do with the mode done in one year.NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NCAAF: Miami Hurricanes
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: LA KingsComment

Since we are hoping M12 franchise mode is like HC can I ask if HC had player roles or character ratings. Big deal for me.Comment

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
Head Coach 09 has "character" ratings in a way MUCH greater than you can even imagine if all you've played is Madden.NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NCAAF: Miami Hurricanes
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: LA KingsComment

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
Not for a long time. I hate to be a pessimist but I just cannot believe that ANY Madden game will ever come even a tenth of the way to matching the in depth nature of Head Coach and if EA actually did make an honest attempt at it then all the stick skills non sim players would go absolutely crazy and that would be the end of it.
You can say whatever you want about "coach mode" being optional and all of that, but if EA made the default scouting, drafting, roster management, and team management, a fraction harder on the stick skills guys they would get pissed and complain, and the fact of the matter is they outnumber us by a large margin.
The saddest part in all of this is that I think Head Coach does have the potential to be a solid earner for EA if they just market it well. Its been awhile since 09 came out but does anyone remember a single commercial for head coach? And if so did it actually highlight the parts that sim players would pounce on? I mean if EA made a solid effort to market head coach toward avid football junkies, like I am assuming everyone on this board is, it should easily be able to produce a profit. If the bought time and space on shows, websites, and things geared toward just fantasy football players I bet they would see a jump in sales. This isnt a game that the average 13 yr old is going to pick up and enjoy, so market it towards his father.
I doubt 09 cost EA that much to make compared to its other titles. I mean really all they have to do is tweak the madden, and design an interface. I understand I am making it sound easier then it is, but for a company like EA its far from impossible. If they want to keep overhead low then make it a download only game. I just can't believe that if EA really gave head coach an honest shot they couldn't make money.
Off-topic: I seem to remember reading somewhere that EA's deal with the NFL requires them to make two games, is that true? And if so what other game are they making? And is that one making any money?Comment

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
I love Franchise mode and HC but in reality I don't believe that EA is going to go down that route. They sit in meetings all day looking at cost, sales, thier bottom line, overhead, man hours, etc. They even admitted this year that they didnt feel the need to focus on thier franchise mode because they "feel" there is a shift happening. That "shift" they say is people just wanting to hop on and get online and play. That was thier excuse for not touching Franchise mode this year. Truth is they just wanted to save money this year. Why spend the money and man hours on a mode they feel they arent going to get a signifigant return on thier investment when they can add new online modes probably for cheaper and throw in more easy to produce BS crap like Ultimate team, etc. Throw in the fact that no one else can make an NFL game and just consider yourself at the mercy of EA's board of directors and investors. At this point they could take franchise mode out and the vast majority of the people they actually "target" thier marketing tool could care less. Those people just want to be able to play with thier fav NFL team with thier fav player online.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
HC's best hope is that they make the franchise mode in Madden like HC.
Honestly franchise mode in Madden is so weak why even have it.
If they want to do a franchise mode do it for real like HC, or don't do it at all. A piece of crap franchise mode will not draw anybody that is interested in that aspect of football gaming so won't help sales.
A real honest effort of an update to improve Madden gaming per every seasons update etc plus an all in version of HC added fro the franchise mode would be a great game make playing the games optional in franchise mode, make the GM stuff simulatable like in HC and see how many more sales of Madden you get when you cover pretty much 100% of the market with features.Comment

Re: Do you think head coach will return?
The things that i could see them do would be:
- update franchise mode, but not even close to HC. Imo this will be more then enough for the average madden player.
- possibly do a stand-alone head coach, but not anytime soon.
I don't see them doing a hc in madden, and the only way i could see that happening would be if there will be competition on the market for Madden. Then this could be an option to increase the quality of the franchise mode. But then again, Fifa soccer and Pro Evolution Soccer have been in a huge batlle for years, and nobody that i know of wants to play these games because of the management (everybody plays football manager etc. for that)Comment
