The worst thing about position philosophies.

They ALL have to be like that. Example, i love power running it up the middle, but like in madden I always get a speed back to complimen it. But the speed backs always blow, and not to mention their ratings are just ugly to look at. And for wide receiver, alot of times the #1 guy is speedy, #2 is the route running specialist and #3 is a possession/slot guy. I LOVE the idea of philosophies, but the real flaw is every one in that posiion needs to be like that, which isnt always right. Because of this i usually dont have my roster based totally on rating, i just look at their stats and skills and put them where need be.

Im still kinda new to this, ive played a bunch of franchises for about 2-4 years apiece, but im still learning and keep starting. Is there something im missing here? I guess my real question shoul be does philosophy change how the player actually plays on the field?

No, it doesn't effect how the players plays on the field. It only effects how your GM evaluates the player.

Re: The worst thing about position philosophies.

The size grade, athletic grade...who really looks at that anyways? Yea, of course, you want to maximize your players' potential but some are more worth it than others.

You have Darren McFadden and Michael Bush. Run DMC flourishes as a Moves HB. Michael Bush, although isn't a good fit for that philosophy, isn't as valuable/indispensable as McFadden is. Would you rather maximize McFadden's potential or Bush's?

That's what I ask myself when deciding on position philosophies.

Changing your philosophy doesn't change a players potential or abilities, it just changes the way he is evaluated by the team.

It doesn't change his ability or skills, but it does change his potential.

It only changes the way the team rates him, not his actual potential.
