Head Coach '09 $15 on PSN

The game has been on the PSN for a long time (since its release, actually), but EA has finally dropped the digital download price on the game to $15. The price drop just appeared on the PSN Store update today, and it appears to be permanent and not just a sale.

Just a heads up for anyone still interested in this one. Surely it can be found in stores for cheaper these days, but you can't beat the convenience and the fact that the whole game resides on the HDD, reducing the load times.

Re: Head Coach '09 $15 on PSN

interesting. When i bought the game for the second time, I wanted to get the download but laughed when i saw they were still charging 40 for it at that time. So i bought it used at Gamestop for 6 bucks. I would've preferred the digital download. Oh well...

Has anyone downloaded this? I bought the disc version of the game and it froze so much that I just had to give up on it. Does the download version reduce freezing? I really wanted to love this game but it gave me no love in return.

Hope I don't come off wrong for bumping, maybe no one has the answer. But I'm deff curious if the downloaded version reduces freezing/glitching that I experienced with the disc version. I feel left out and want to give this game another chance.

If you load it on the hard drive it runs very smooth.

I had wondered about this as well, which is why I was originally going to buy the digital download. I ended up getting the disc. However, with the price drop I think I would've gone with the download.

Are there any PS3 users who have used both the disc and the download version who can comment on the differences?

Just downloaded the game for the PS3 today with some left over Xmas money. Its amazing how much better the game plays. On the disc version I could barely play, even during the menu options. But now its runs really smooth.

Be prepared though as the download takes a few hours to complete. The download itself is about 5GB's.

Thank YOU! I bought this game when it first came out and LOVED it but it got damaged so i resorted to renting it from the video store in town. 1 year ago the video store closed up and i refused to pay 50$ for it again not that its not worth hell id pay double that if i could get an update once in awhile. 3 weeks ago i checked again in the online store to be shocked they still wanted so much for it. Just by chance i happened in here and glad i did because i can tell you without a doubt what ill be doing for the next couple weeks.

Haha....Well, you are downloading a Blu-Ray disc's worth of data, after all.

Glad I could help - just ran across it when I browsing through that massive store update and figured some people would still have interest.

Yeah this ones still the best. Maddens ok for awhile in fact im already bored to tears with this years version and it just came out. But, With head coach even when i get bored i can still go back and try different things like inventing a new defense or offense from scratch and really customizing my teams to do specific things well. Something u just cant do all that effectively in madden. Sure you can put together a great team in madden but without being able to create plays and build teams around philosophies it just gets to be a grindfest of running the same plays over and over against a tiresome AI or playing online with no real long term benefits. As online franchise play still seems quite lacking.

So Awetzel, do you agree with the other poster that the game plays smoother and with less hesitations with the download version?

ps3 owner here. have the disk and recently paid the $15 dollars for the download. I have noticed that the game runs smoother. I also havent had the sound glitch on me yet running off of the hard drive.

Yes It runs much smoother.. I was testing a new slider set i started working on today so i had the system running non stop games for about 11 hours without incident.

I had forgotten how great this game was

Good to hear the game runs smoother. Is spending $15 justified to get a smoother running of the game? I have the original disc but the sound glitch and some of the lagging is killer...
