speed philosphy: Way overvalued?

Is it just me, or does it seem like when you have the speed philosophy, it really overvalues players? Especially HBs and WRs? I was messing with it, and my team got extremely "Better" when I had that. 60 rated recievers and RB went to 90 Pot. That's crazy. I guess if you wanna avoid a bust on a guy, and he has good speed, change your philosphy! Hell be at least 85 lol.

Your players don't actually get any better when you change philosophies. The only thing that changes is the way your team views the player. His abilities stay the same.

yea, there are way better philosophies which will tell you more about the player than just speed

I've never prescribed to the motto that "speed kills". It's a valuable attribute, sure, but definitely not one to which you base an entire position or team. This is why I don't use the speed philosophy on any of my team positions.

Just look at the way Al Davis values speed. That's how I looked at it and understood.

Re: speed philosphy: Way overvalued?

I have spent my first 2 seasons using the speed philosophy for my WR and just came to the realization that I am a complete and total idiot for doing so

Seriously, a very poor decision.

yeah, when you start looking at the stats of those players who have a 90+ overall rating with the speed philosophy, you start seeing things like 64 catch, 51 carry and a bunch of other things that the speed philosophy doesn't take into acount. So you wind up with a bunch of recievers who can run fast, but can't catch, can't run routes, are fumble prone and a host of other problems if you're not careful.

its the same thing for the size/strength/mauler philosophy for o-line. it judges them based on their height and weight and strength ratings rather than their run and pass block ratings
