Just booted it up and checked and indeed near and far are in fact in the playbook for Holmgren West Coast, however, they are labeled as "Gun" plays.

Please disregard the previous two posts, I am apparently having a senior moment. In my defense, near and far should be in that offense as the Hawks used both formations a heck of a lot under Holmgren.

No, just 1-but it's all you need. It's out of the Michigan Spread playbook. If you want a running playbook, go with College Attack. You know the run is coming. You just don't know where from.

Re: Head Coach Formation Guide

I used the info in this spreadsheet and came up with a possible list of best play books. The most successful playbooks formations were weighted higher (very strong book formations worth more than very weak). Added up the points and here ya go. I ranked all the very strong and strong playbooks and included a couple of good ones outside of that range.

Reid All Passing 60
Gruden West Coast 55
McCarthy West Coast 52
Payton Spread Attack 52
Martz Air Attack 42
Tom Moore Pass Att 41
Holmgren West Coast 34
Childress Balanced 32
Shanahan Zone Block 31
Steelers Smashmouth 28
Saunders Big Book 27
Garrett Pass Attack 24
Kiffin Pass Attack 23
Bengals Vert Passing 19
Patriots Air Strike 19
Super Chargers Attack 0

Biggest surprises Kiffin Pass Attack 13th ranked playbook. Super Chargers Attack not in the top 20.

Top 15 Formations:

Singleback Normal
Gun Normal Slot
Singleback Trips Bunch
Singleback 4WR Falcon
Gun 4WR
Gun Normal Offset Weak
Gun Empty Trey Flex
Singleback Big Twin WR
Gun 2RB 3WR
Singleback Tight Slots
Split Backs Normal
Split Backs Pro
Weak/Far I Twin TE
Gun 5WR
Gun Spread Flex

Most Top 15 Formations:

Reid All Passing 9
Gruden West Coast 7
Payton Spread Attack 6
Garrett Pass Attack 5
McCarthy West Coast 5

Wish there was info on the college playbooks.

Awesome list!

I find the Super Chargers Attack still works quite well with solid RB's + a great TE but I follow this list often when selecting playbooks/plays.

Have any of you tried to create an option team? I love NCAA Football and running the option but I can't seem to get it to work in HC09.
