Arrowhead... A coaches journey to Canton

Welcome to my HC09 dynasty thread hope you enjoy.

I have decided to try out my hand with this thread just cause i haven't yet now i am not all that computer inclined so sorry no pics of the teams and all that cool stuff other people have but i hope you enjoy anyway.

So... i have decided to start myself a new dynasty and i have chose the Chiefs as my team. Now i have seen mixed feelings about how easy they supposedly are to use and what have you but i am planning a TOTAL revamp of this team and in doing so the draft picks that the Chiefs start with in the 09 draft are... well the bomb.

HC Name: JD Stang
OFF Philos: Shannahan Zone Block (tweaked a bit)
DEF Philos: 3-4 Pressure (added 3-3-5 and 4-4)
Personality: Commander

Starting skills
Ambition... totally worth it since i will start with other special skills

Run Blocking Discipline
Pass Blocking Discipline (with the zone block these are crucial)
Improved Blocking

Running Back Discipline (crucial as well with zone blocking)
Improved Ball Carrier Moves

Game Film Analysis (helps with overall awareness)

Ok so the stage is set so here i go.....

Re: Arrowhead... A coaches journey to Canton

Next step is to set up my positional philosephies

QB- Field General
HB- Speed (i like power more personally but speed is needed 4 cutbacks!)
FB- Blocking
WR- Speed
TE- Playmaker
T- Zone Blocking
G- Zone Blocking
C- Zone blocking
DE- Versatile/3-4
DT- Run Stopper
OLB- Pass Rusher/3-4 Blitzer
MLB- Balanced
CB- Balanced
FS- Balanced
SS- Balanced
P- Balanced
K- Balanced

now that those are done it's on to franchise tagging

Ok well after looking at the players that could be tagged i have decided that there is nobody worth using it on.... the kicker was the highest overall player available for it and yeah that's not happening

After the scouting and RFA choices is the start of the FA period i will update again then for now i will not really even scout mainly due to the fact that i already know who is good in the 09 draft because of doing it 19836465456 times...lol

Re: Arrowhead... A coaches journey to Canton

The FA period has begun and it looks like i could really do some big things here. Details as followed......

Cap Room: 58.99 million
Team Cap: 57.01 million

Draft Picks (09 draft)
Round Pick
1 5
1 17
2 35
3 66
3 73
3 82 *** ALSO HAVE ONE PICK PER ROUND IN 2010***
4 102
5 129
6 164
6 176
7 195
7 224

Looks like trade material to me for the most part!

Roster

QB- Huard (78) QB- Croyle (72) QB- Thigpen (47)

HB- Johnson (90) HB- Smith (79) HB- Battle (71)

WR- Bowe (87) WR- Webb (76)

LT- McIntosh (74) LT- Jones (69)

LG- Waters (85) LG- Stallings (63)

C- Smith (84) C- Niswanger (71)

RG- Taylor (71)

LE- Hali (84)

There isn't much here but i think we can work with it at least we have some good trading material.

Outside of Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson this defense is crap and on offense Dwayne Bowe and Larry Johnson are it... i have my work cut out for me that's for sure.

Re: Arrowhead... A coaches journey to Canton

OK so the day that Free Agency begins I have alot to do... first off my o-line is in shambles, our QB is old and crappy and there is really only one, possibly two, studs on defense.

So with CB Asante Samuel being the first big FA available we take a shot at him... ended up landing him on a 3 year deal worth 10 million and a 2 million dollar signing bonus... not to shabby.

As you would probably figure i pretty much put the entire team on the trade block, outside of stud LOLB Derrick Johnson. So now that we have our Starting CB locked down it's tradin' time!

Ok so first trade was actually a huge steal... needed a solid MLB for our 3-4 scheme so who better than Patrick Willis right? Gave up LE Tamba Hali and our 2008 round 5 pick 129 as well as 2008 round 6 pick 164, 49er's jumped all over it... thx!!!!!

The next four trades ended with K.C. acquiring LT Joe Staley, LG Logan Mankins, C Samson Satele and last but not least RG Davin Joseph. All in all we gave up HB Larry Johnson, ROLB Donnie Edwards, C Rob Smith, QB Damon Huard, LT Damion McIntosh and HB Kolby Smith along with various 08' and 09 draft picks in the 5th through 7th rounds.

At this point we have a good bit of cap penalties but with nearly 40 million in cap room still available we check out yet another top Free Agent...
RT Jordan Gross... super beast... and we lock him down to a 5yr 27 million dollar contract with a 4 million dollar signing bonus.

Talk about a turn around, my average overall on the o-line is now higher than any of the previous players!!! AND we really only lost one weapon in HB Larry Johnson. Now for the replacement!

So trying to find someone to fill the shoes of LJ is tough, but we decide to go a bit outta the box and offer the Broncos SS Greg Wesley, SS Bernard Pollard and DT Alfonso Boone.... but not for their HB... NO NO.....
Enter beast mode.... WR Brandon Marshall!! Yeah yeah He aint a HB, But when the ball is in his hands he runs like one and adding him into the mix with Dwayne Bow is one heck of a 1-2 punch at WR.

As for offensive weapons, we also traded WR Jeff Webb to the Browns for WR and return specialist Joshua Cribbs. Take that one any day of the week!

Our last player trade was to the Titans for stud FS Mike Griffin... we gave em' our old MLB Napolion Harris and our 08' 4th round 102nd pick.

Now it prob would come as a shock to you but our last trade was not a player trade but a trade for a solid high draft pick... TE Tony Gonzales to the Falcons for their 3rd overall, giving us 3 first round picks and 2 in the top 5!

Since we got rid of Gonzales we decided to pick up TE LJ Smith outta the Free Agency... locked him up on a 4 yr 19 million dollar deal with a 2.5 million bonus.

Next we went ahead and signed Pass rusher ROLB Terrell Suggs to go opposite Derrick Johnson on a 3 yr 10 million dollar contract with a 2 million bonus

Our last pickup was a kicker named Josh Brown... 2 yr 4 million with 500k bonus.

Next stop the NFL Draft!!!

Re: Arrowhead... A coaches journey to Canton

Now before we get to the draft lets see what we got to work with...

QB- Brodie Croyle
HB- Jackie Battle
FB- none
WR- Brandon Marshall
Dwayne Bowe
Josh Cribbs
TE- LJ Smith
LT- Joe Staley
LG- Logan Mankins
C- Samson Satele
RG- Davin Joseph
RT- Jordan Gross

At this point we need a starting HB as well as a DT and a RE
We could use a SS but it isn't as important as the above mentioned
We also would like to have a decent number 2 MLB... they start in the 3-4
Last is a FB but they aren't really a huge concern knowing how late they go in the draft.

As for picks we still have all of our round 1 through 3 original picks and our round 1 through 3 picks in next years draft as well with the addition of the 3rd overall pick.

Round Pick
1 3
1 5
1 17
2 35
3 66
3 73
3 82

Wish me luck!!!
