HC09 Trading Tips Shared)

  1. TRADING

RULE NUMBER ONE: DON'T EVER TAKE THE FIRST DEAL CPU GIVES YOU! IT'S NEVER THE BEST DEAL!

RULE NUMBER TWO: DON'T ALWAYS GO FOR THE HIGHEST PICKS OFFERED! IT'S NOT ALWAYS BEST!

RULE NUMBER THREE: TRADING IS STRATEGY

Don't be a cheapskate, alright? Trust me, a lot of guys WILL WALK AWAY if you offer them some BS deal. If a team offers you a pretty good deal and you tell them to increase their offer, they might walk away also.

Also try to know what exactly it is you want or are willing to give up before you just go off and start trading. Don't break yourself trying to get a player. Which brings me to the point of limiting your trading. Don't try to trade for Peyton Manning, Randy Moss, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Ray Lewis. You CAN obtain these guys but you are committing draft suicide by doing so.

I said to know what you want. If you wanted draft picks for the upcoming draft, don't take the offer that is offering future picks instead. But also, know the VALUE of the offers you are receiving. Are you going to take the 2nd round pick for the upcoming draft or the 1st rounder in the draft 2 years from now? Now there are times you shouldn't take the latter, but under normal conditions you should take the 1st rounder.

If you can get a player with your picks, you should potentially take that offer instead.

Also note guys placed on the trade block are easier to trade for.

Finally, remember AGE and POTENTIAL do make a difference. The Chiefs are NEUTRAL when it comes to trading. But they easily open up negotiations for Tony Gonzalez. Why? Well...he's old. Now he's still expensive as hell but still, you see what I mean. Someone that's good but really old will always be available for trade, but it's not recommended. Some teams won't get rid of players no matter how old or crappy they are.
  2. Now some information on the TRADING PHILOSOPHY of all the teams in the NFL. This is IMPORTANT. Note that these philosophies aren't permanent. If a team's GM is fired, leaves the team, or retires, a new GM will be hired obviously. So that means the philosophy could possibly change.

First off, TRADE FREQUENCY. If a GM is a LIGHT TRADER, he is less likely to negotiate with you and trade players that aren't on his trade block. But if a team's GM is a HEAVY TRADER he will open up negotiations on even his best players. NEUTRAL GMs are in between meaning they'll probably keep their stars but trade everyone else.

HEAVY: Broncos, Browns, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Eagles, 49ers, Jets, Lions, Patriots, Ravens, Redskins, Seahawks

LIGHT: Bears, Bengals, Cardinals, Chargers, Giants, Packers, Panthers, Rams, Titans, Texans, Vikings

NEUTRAL: Bills, Bucs, Chiefs, Falcons, Jags, Raiders, Saints, Steelers

Use this above information to decide who to trade with.

More on TRADE PHILOSOPHY for GMs. This one is TRADE MINDSET. GMs' trade mindset is categorized by either Normal, Overoffer, or Lowball.

GMs with the OVEROFFER mindset will overdo it with their offers, often offering you more than they needed to. In other words, they're the *******es you can exploit. GMs with the LOWBALL mindset try to haggle you, offer less than what they should. These are the ones that are kinda stubborn and will walk away if you don't take their cheap offers. NORMAL mindset GMs are in between and it pretty much depends on the player being traded. Now for the actual GMs' mindsets:

OVEROFFER: Bears, Bills, Cowboys, Dolphins, Lions, Pats, Raiders, Redskins

LOWBALL: Bengals, Cardinals, 49ers, Jags, Packers, Saints, Steelers, Vikings

NORMAL: Broncos, Browns, Bucs, Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Eagles, Falcons, Giants, Jets, Panthers, Rams, Ravens, Seahawks, Titans, Texans

Use this information to determine how you negotiate with GMs.

Not as important as the other two trade philosophy traits: FUTURE PICKS. A couple teams handle the way they deal with future picks a little differently. If a team prefers to TRADE AWAY future picks, they don't mind giving up picks in future drafts. But if they prefer to ACQUIRE future picks they'd rather keep them AND they'll want future picks from you when you try to trade from their players. Not many teams differ from the common NEUTRAL trait though:

TRADE AWAY: Browns, Colts, Lions, Redskins

ACQUIRE: Cardinals, Cowboys, Eagles, Ravens, Texans

All other teams are NEUTRAL. Like I said before,

One more important trait, concerning negotiation. COUNTER PHILOSOPHY is categorized by NORMAL, GENEROUS, AND CHEAP. GMs with the GENEROUS trait will usually take the first deal you offer them unless it's really bad. A lot of the times they'll counteroffer but you can still haggle them back to your original offer and they'll still take it. Take advantage of these guys. CHEAP GMs WILL counteroffer OFTEN and expect you to take their counteroffer and usually if you don't, they walk from the negotiations. NORMAL GMs are in between. Now for the teams:

GENEROUS- Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, 49ers, Raiders, Redskins, Vikings

CHEAP- Bears, Cardinals, Eagles, Jags, Packers, Patriots, Rams, Saints, Steelers, Titans

NORMAL- Bengals, Bills, Broncos, Bucs, Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Falcons, Giants, Jets, Lions, Panthers, Ravens, Seahawks, Texans

Re: HC09 Trading Tips Shared)

Any player you trade for, any incentives or signing bonus will be accounted for by the team that trades him. The reverse if you trade someone, you'll deal with the signing bonus and incentives.

In other words, a trade will set to 0 any incentives or signing bonus in a contract. This will dramatically reduce the overall cost of the contract.
