So I then traded for drew brees. When I got him his rating was 89 for both ovr and potential. After the next preseaon game he went down to 70 for both ovr and potential?

What just happened?
I started a career with the pats. In the first year , right after the 1st preseason game, Tom Brady's rating of 98 and potential of 98 went down to 75/75. wtf? is this a glitch?

Hmm, sometimes the HC makes a big impact. Are you still using Belichick or did you create your own? Also like JD said check your philosophies and see if its set to something else. Otherwise I say restart the career.Won't change my sig until the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl...wait, that happened ! Let's win another one! Go Hawks!!Comment

I was using bellichek and I didnt change any of the philosophies. It was set on field general which was the default for the patriots.Comment

Hmm, then I say restart. Might have glitched out or something. I can honestly say I have never seen a glitch like that yet but I have seen some of my players take a OVR/POT hit after I changed up the coaching staff because they had the boosts and it killed their POT.Won't change my sig until the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl...wait, that happened ! Game Plan some Offensive Pass Plays in Preseason to help him out and also make sure you run some Unlearned Pass Plays with him during Preseason games.Comment

it definitely sounds like you switched his position at some point which zeroed out his productionComment

Re: What just happened?
I thought production is just a attribute that fluctuates and doesnt completely wipe out a players potential. I can see that when or if it zero's out then the player's overall rating drops a bit, but then goes back up as production goes up. Didnt think it would drop someone's potential 20-25 points.
so say I draft a DT and I want to move him to DE, or vice versa. Should I not do that? or is it fine to do it right after the draft since he hasnt built up his production yet?Comment

Re: What just happened?
You can move them around right after the draft since they don't have any production yet anyway. There's a certain time-frame that if a player hasn't lived up to his potential (re: have enough production) after being in the league a number of years, then his potential will take a nosedive. I'm not sure of the exact length off the top of my head, maybe someone else remembers.I thought production is just a attribute that fluctuates and doesnt completely wipe out a players potential.
