Post Game Review
"6 Times," Coach Roman said as he paced the locker room. "Six times you let them in to the endzone this game. 6 times. Think about that. 500 yards passing against us. Thee numbers are not acceptable, gentleman. I don't want to hear excuses. We all saw something bad out there today. Let's not sugarcoat it. We're going to keep this in a special place in our heads these next few weeks. Next time you want to quit or you want to slack off or next time you realize you aren't giving it 100%, remember this game. Because if you don't pick things up, we are just going to have to get used to this. I'll see you all at practice."
The game was over from the beginning, being 41-14 at the start of the third quarter. The secondary was torched. Our weakest position was taken advantage of by Dungy. He knew how to beat us. We held the running game to under a 2.2 average, but that didn't mean much against the 500 yards passed on us.
There were some good thing to take out of this game though. Although it had to be stopped early due to the 17-0 point spread in the second quarter, the running game looked manageable. A definite improvement over the previous week. Our receiving corp showed up too late, but when they did they shined on that field. Maybe by the regular season we can start off like that.
The Quarterback. To say one guy had a rough day and the other had a good one would be an understatement. Rodgers missed on 8 of his first 10 passes, finishing that streak with an interception. After that spell, however, he did recover and have two solid drives.
Rookie Josh Johnson had a rough start too. He made only one of his first 7 passes. After that though, he gained momentum that ended up getting us 24 points in the second half. He worked well with the guys out there, making the throws that were needed to be made in this kind of deficit, one of them being a 52 yard TD pass to fellow rookie Desean Jackson.
This third game will be interesting. There is still much uncertainty with the team. It isn't too late to try to add new pieces to fix our pass defense. Coach Roman will definitely be doing everything he can to never let 50 points be scored against him again
