Woo! Another win! This one kind of surprised me. I know Denver's no that good, but I was happy with how our team played. Trent Dilfer was awesome. He converted several third downs, and even some fourth downs, keeping the ball moving and Jay Cutler on the sideline. Not much else to this game, just sound football.

Wow. I expected this score, but not in favor of us... I think they're finally putting it together! Maybe it's their play knowledge. Maybe it's the fact that I said that I was looking forward to the draft to replace them. Maybe it's Maybelline. Who really cares?! As long as they keep winning, I'm happy! Trent Dilfer had a nice game again. The difference again was converting on 3rd down and penalties.

Yep. I just scored 45 points. I think they're finally getting it. I have some bad news though... In the middle of the game, Trent Dilfer sustained a bruised hip, and will be out for the season. This is a major blow to my offense, as he has been above average lately. I had just signed him to a 2 year deal too. I placed him on injured reserve and signed Chris Redman, who only has a 60 ovr, but his THP and THA are 83/82 and his AWR is 75, so he seemed like a good fit for what I want in a QB. With that though, Andre Woodson finds himself starting again. He's done some things well, but he really hasn't been overly impressive yet... here's another chance for him to prove what he can do. If he starts struggling, I may try John Beck or Chris Redman. Asante Samuel was back from injury. He had two picks! Also, Ted Ginn was out 5-8 weeks with a strained hamstring, so I placed him on IR and signed Sinorice Moss, who had a catch in this game. Also, Tavares Gooden tore his ACL and PCL, out 5-8 months, so I placed him on IR as well and signed a 76 OVR rookie with 83 POT for depth. I really feel bad for him, tearing your ACL isn't fun at all... I tore mine sophomore year playing a game of pickup football and haven't been the same since.

New England's up next, so I expect the next game will be a blowout.

Too close. This game was really a lot closer than the stats though. They should have beaten us by a lot more.

Next game is at St. Louis. Also, I'm looking for some new sliders to play with, any suggestions? Wheeler Dealer, are you still looking for some tests on that set?

Re: Jonathan Hancock: A Football Life

I'm still looking. I have a couple of options here, ever so slightly different. What I'm seeing are close games that come unraveled in the second half. I had wins 68-17, 45-31 and 50-17 in the playoffs. I had 2 losses and several other games decided in the 4th quarter during this season.

I think it's the assistant coaches. My coaching bar is between 90 and 100% for everything except special teams. And my total missed assignments is usually zero once I get my boys coached up.

The really strange things is that I blocked a punt in each of the last three games, and in each case I had a return on.

These were the sliders on the first two games.

OFF 35 35 35 80 60
Def 40 40 40 40 40
ST 45 40 50 95 25

These were the tweaks I used after reading a post from Picker that said you have to use "even" numbers to maintain balance.

OFF 30 30 30 80 60
DEF 40 40 40 40 40
ST 50 40 50 90 20

Human and CPU were the same.

If you want a bit more passing, raise the first three OFF to 40.

I've also read that to avoid problems you should make changes from the main menu and save your profile before you load your career.

Thanks. I'm going to finish out this season with these sliders, at the very least. Then we can see where to go from there.

This is what the last game should have been too. They were a lot more talented and a lot deeper. Andre Woodson was... bad. Finally, I pulled him and put in John Beck. He didn't really have any time to prove himself. Right now, after this game, my approval is sitting at 55. I don't think I'm really in too bad shape, I shouldn't get fired.

Next game is at Buffalo.
