By winning our last five and six of our last seven, we finished 6-10. We’ve gone 6-10 three times previously (1980, 2000 and 2010). The year following 6-10, we went 13-3 (and won our first Super Bowl), 12-4 and 13-3.

Hoping that trend continues next year.

Beyond that, while Barkley's a sexy pick, there are entirely too many holes in this team to use that high a pick on a position we at least have some semblance of quality at. I know not everyone thinks Hyde's very good, but he's at least average NFL starter quality. He's at least a B, and while Barkley may be a A, we have far too many Cs and Ds starting to be blinded by the sexy pick, especially when there's no guarantee he'll even be as good as Hyde.

And I know a lot of people that laugh at that last line, but I submit that runningback is the single most bust-prone position in the NFL. I'm not sure why, but it is. For every Todd Gurley, there's probably 3 Ka-Jana Carters, Trent Richardsons, and Lawrence Phillips.

I guess I'd consider him if he fell to 9/10 (when's that coin flip, btw?), but if he did, I think someone would overpay for the pick.

Hyde wants to come back, he's had injury issues until this year, never ran for 1,000 yards. He can be brought back on a 2 year deal in the $4-5m range (Sportrac says his market value is in the $6.2m per year range... I think he's bought in to this team and will take a hometown discount given the injury history).

A guard would be fantastic. I think they'll stick with Kilgore, and honestly, I think Kilgore's good enough that his mind makes up for what he lacks physically, but the guard position is just horrid. Garnet coming back will help, though he's honestly not that good either. He's good enough that just adding one top guard in the draft will make a world of difference on this line.

I honestly think the 49ers can, they should draft a running back especially since Carlos Hyde was on an off this year
