Darwin Walker wants new contract: may holdout

Man I hate when agents and players do this kind of crap. At least on the bright side the Bills first mandatory camp isn't until June 11th.

What's the history of Marv Levy and dealing with hold outs? I don't remember many from the 90's when he was coach. Hell, I don't remember any at all. Could the willingness to hold out be enough to clash with Marv's "character first" approach to player personnel?

BWHAHAHAHAHA Oh man, Darwin Walker just got punked

From NFL Fanhouse
Quote:
It looks like Darwin Walker's got a decision to make: since coming to Buffalo from Philly (he was part of the deal that sent Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb to the Eagles), he hasn't spent much time at the Bills' facility. If fact, he hasn't showed up at all. He's unhappy about his contract, wants a new one, and is holding out in the meantime.

But here's the thing: 178-year-old general manager Marv Levy is nobody's fool. Everybody suspected he was senile when Buffalo made some at-the-time suspect draft picks in 2006. (In hindsight, the picks were solid, Levy looked like a genius and the rest of came off as jerks.) Now, if Walker refuses to show up for work, Levy's got an out:

If recently acquired defensive tackle Darwin Walker doesn't report to Bills training camp by Aug. 5, he will be traded back to Philadelphia for a 2008 sixth-round pick, NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported Friday.

According to Schefter, Buffalo included the clause in the original trade ... because they knew Walker was unsatisfied with his current contract.

Cue Nelson Muntz.

So, Darwin, when can the Bills expect to see you? Next week, at the OTAs? Great. Oh, and Marv says don't be late ... or it's coming out of your salary.

Gotta love old people.

That's awesome. Marv knows what he is doing.

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread 2007

Does anyone else love the Trent Edwards pick? I'm just watching old footage of him at Stanford, the kid has all the tools to be a good NFL starting QB. He just played with a bunch of scrubs at Stanford. I'd love to see how he develops in the next few years. We probably won't have to resign Losman to a long-term deal.

I'm hoping we are in a position where we'll WANT them to sign J.P. to a long term deal once his contract is nearing its end. I will say though - having a guy like Trent Edwards waiting in the wings is much better than having Craig Nall or even Kelly Holcomb.

I'm much more interested in JP than Trent Edwards. Stick with JP for now, he has the skills. I wasn't too pleased with that pick.
