We franchised Brent Grimes, hopefully a long term contract is reached with him. He's a bonafide stud. Now we need to bring back Lofton and see if Abraham sol take a discount. deCoud I could care less about.

I agree with this. We also need to somehow, find a replacement back for Turner. I wanted us to draft DeMarco Murray last year, but they didn't. I think Murray is going to be somewhat like AP. They both had serious injury issues coming out of college (both at Oklahoma), and before Murray got injured last year, he was destroying teams.

Polk from Washington is going to be a quality 3 down back in the NFL imo. He will be there in the 2nd most likely but I rather not take a HB with that pick.

Yea, we have too many questions on the defensive side to be going offense in round 2. Anything defense round two and im happy

We should have taken Lamar Miller when we had the chance.

Re: Official Atlanta Falcons Team Thread

Doesn't surprise me that the Falcons stayed away from skilled positions at the top half of the draft. Dimitroff seemed pretty high on Rodgers when he took him last year. I don't see him as an every down back, but teams are increasingly starting to view runners as interchangeable, and the interior of that offensive line needed some serious help. Last season I saw some terrible guard play from the Falcons -- right guard especially just got pushed around. Konz is a guy that will pay dividends immediately and gives you long term insurance when McClure retires. I loved the pick.

Don't know what to make of their draft as a whole, however. The fullback pick surprised me. I expected them to sure up the middle of the defense with a big body at tackle or a young linebacker.

Our lb depth isn't too hot right now, but the thing is Michael Turner started to slow down last season. He needs a replacement. Not some scar back but an every down back. Same with Gonzalez. We went out our way to build the offense around Matt Ryan. Well we can't let the hb an te position go in the trash now.

Re: Official Atlanta Falcons Team Thread

Turner, to me, has been slowing down in the second half of the past two seasons. I got my own theories on that one, though, like his weight, but I gotta believe that Dimitroff and Smith did like they did a few years ago when Abraham wound up with only 5 sacks. They went back and watched the cut ups to see what was really going on. I tell you what I saw last year, a very underwhelming performance by that offensive line. I'm still surprised that Ryan made it through 16 games the way he got hit early on last season.

I remember the J'Ville game where they won pretty easily, but I just couldn't get past how the Jags kept stuffing the run. I mean, they couldn't get any push in the middle. I gotta think Dimitroff saw that too and decided to roll the dice another year on a guy that did give them over 1400 yards. That and the expectation that Ryan would carry more of the load.

No way I saw them going skilled position that early. If they had a 1 and a 2, then yeah, I think Miller would have been a possibility, but there wasn't a lot of wiggle room.

Now the 3rd round kinda surprised me. They did need LT help, but Nigel Bradham was still on the board in the 3rd and I thought he would have added some depth, and maybe even could have wound up playing in front of Nicholas.

They're playing right on the edge with Turner and Gonzalez, but I see the thinking. Either one goes down and the complexion of the offense completely changes, but I think they addressed their biggest need with Konz.

Dent and Weatherspoon have been getting mad love this offseason. With Lofton gone, I hope Dent is ready to step up.

I think we are poised for big things with our team. If (and its a big one) our offensive line can actually play like an offensive line then we will easily get our playoff win this year.
