Which of this year's hockey games best reproduces the icons you know and love? Head on over to IGN and check out the comparison.

"The NHL is one of the last remaining battlegrounds for videogame franchises. With the MLB and NFL striking exclusive deals years ago, it's always exciting when hockey and basketball season comes around. Both NHL 10 and NHL 2K10 are scheduled to hit store shelves in two weeks so we thought it would be a good idea to do a player comparison between the two clashing franchises. We've assembled the top five players in the league based on all-star voting from last year and supplied ratings and screens for each. We threw out Jonathan Toews in favor of Alex Ovechkin since Ovie is on the cover of 2K10."

The newer Bauer helmets look pretty terrible in NHL 10 but outside of that it really does blow 2k out of the water from a graphical standpoint.

The only one that looks better to me is Kolavea on NHL 10. I like the style of 2k10. I think NHL 10 will be the better game though

Here are my votes:

Sidney Crosby - 2k10
Patrick Kane - 2k10
Alexei Kovalev - NHL10
Evgeni Malkin - NHL 10
Alex Ovechkin - NHL 10

Although NHL 10 wins 3-2 in my opinion (Malkin and Ovechkin were toss-ups, imo), their helmets look ridiculously oversized! Nonetheless, I'm not ever going to base a buying decision based on the accuracy of faces.

I actually think Ovechkin looks better in NHL 10, but Crosby looks better in 2K.

Kane looks like an alien in both. lol

Either way, both games look good this year

I find this interesting everybody has a different winners. I think Sid looks better in 2k and A.O looks better in 2k the rest look pretty off in my opinion. Malkin looks like he has down syndrome. I know the real guy does kinda look like that. I guess it is the long face, but with his helmet off he actually is not a bad looking guy.

I find this interesting everybody has a different winners.

The whole comparison thing is screwy anyway. Some site did this with baseball a couple years back. One of the still shots of a 2K face looked so bad, I fired up the game to compare and to see if it was truly that bad. In motion, the same player looked much more like his real-life counterpart. So, grain of salt is the moral here.

A.O still looks asian in 2k10. I don't think 2k's faces look bad persay the skin texture itself just seems less detailed is all. Kovalev does look awful in 2k10 though.

I like when they put the real picture with it. But a lot of times they have pictures with bad expressions. If you put the one of Joe T from 2k and EA. I like the 2k one better.

Well I disagree look at the Devin S one, that skin texture is perfect.

I mean more along the lines of features, detailed chins and creases around the mouth. 2k's or at least the few they chose to highling look like a flat pasty white face. Which prolly isn't totally acurate as that shot of a bearded Joe Thorton I though looked great.
