If anything, wouldn't that be a good PR thing (something desperately needed)?
So if an extra year is needed, why not another patch now?

So if an extra year is needed, why not another patch now?
There are some obvious fixes still needed and if this is the 2K version to play over the next year as well, why not spend a little time putting in necesssary fixes that I'm sure they know very well as they are intimate with 2khockeynet faithful?

Pushing through the PS3 patch and continuing roster support would go a long way to restoring that they care at all about the customer base. That being said though, I won't hold my breath on either of those things happening. The writing has kinda been on the wall the last couple years and their mistakes are now catching up to them to be honest. There are some obvious fixes still needed and if this is the 2K version to play over the next year as well, why not spend a little time putting in necesssary fixes that I'm sure they know very well as they are intimate with 2khockeynet faithful?

Good call DFB. It would go a long way to putting some good vibes back to the community...especially the PS3 patch."And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

Re: So if an extra year is needed, why not another patch now?
I don't really know about programming, but obviously multiple patches for titles are released constantly. Repair about 3 or 4 things truly needed (including the thing(s) they broke with the first patch, like guys getting stuck in the ice) and incorporate that into a PS3 patch as well.
People can be very forgiving, 2K...... but not forever.Comment

Well, how the hell would we know that? We didn't program the game. Bottom line is that they should fix about 3-4 glaring problems. Goalies reacting better and skating would be things they would say are modified by the sliders. But there are a few very, very obvious things they need to address.Comment

lol OK. I guess I am saying what are some of the problems with the game? What would you like fixed? For me the skating and goalies could be a little better, but I will admit with 06 sliders the skating was much better and some what so were the goalies.Well, how the hell would we know that? Re: So if an extra year is needed, why not another patch now?
Keeping the game patched over the next year would help bridge the gap between releases by keeping the community interested (in theory). Patching for the sake of patching isn't necessary, but I am sure there are still several things left to be addressed with the current game despite how much I am enjoying it.Comment

Re: So if an extra year is needed, why not another patch now?
I wouldn't hold my breath for any of this...their track record of post-release support is abyssmal at best. Their devlopment team and budget is obviously quite small, so I'd be willing to bet all available resources (staff and money) are dedicated to 2k11 for the Wii.
When was the last time this series did "the right thing" for their fan base?"And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

If I had to pick the top things to patch that are game killers, they would be:
*Skaters getting stuck in the ice (not as prevalent pre-patch)
*Constant forced shots from the face off circle
*Excessively long shifts even when stamina is affected by sliders
*Over-pursuit by the fwds on the PK, despite the strategy being set at "stay back"Comment

Add to that manual line changes onlineIf I had to pick the top things to patch that are game killers, they would be:
*Skaters getting stuck in the ice (not as prevalent pre-patch)
*Constant forced shots from the face off circle
*Excessively long shifts even when stamina is affected by sliders
*Over-pursuit by the fwds on the PK, despite the strategy being set at "stay back"
To make league games more strategy oriented.

Re: So if an extra year is needed, why not another patch now?
I think that if they want to maintain their customer base, especially those on the PS3, they'd better continue to support 2k10 and definitely patch the PS3 version. Imo, if they aren't going to release a PS3 title for another 2 years, there should be plenty of time and resources to patch it.Comment

Who would be making this patch? The programmers are likely working on another 2K title or are seeking work elsewhere.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that.
