Visual Concepts Lays-off 30

It's over. NHL2K series is dead.

Pastapadre has a take on it and I think it's pretty accurate.
I don't think it's a coincendence that 2K11 is a week from coming out and we get this news.
I'm sure part of the lay-offs concern MLB, but most likely, the NHL dream is over

Also, WWTC, a 2K producer has been seen on 2khockey.net without his 2K/Visual Concepts logo and he confirmed he's currently unemployed:

Out of respect for those involved, I don't know if you should be airing this out like that. The speculation about the end of the NHL 2K series is certainly warranted, but I don't think we should be naming names and all that.

Just a suggestion

Can't say most of us didn't see it coming. So much for coming back to 360/PS3 next year.

Normally I'd agree with you. But WWTC had no problems revealing his current employment status so I didn't think it was a dirty secret that couldn't be spoken about.

I hope he bounces back and gets a great job as soon as possible. Same with Shadow and all those involved in the lay-offs.

But I can't see how this announcement isn't regarding the NHL series. I hope I'm wrong though.

So is 2k going down or just VC. Wouldn't 2k just get some other company to make their games?

Doubtful, I honestly have the feeling that NBA2k may pretty well be the only sports title 2k makes soon. Once that 3rd party exclusive MLB license is up, considering how much money they've lost because of it. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 2k ditch their sports line altogether.

That would be cool, I would like to see what EA can do with Baseball and the Show would have more room to move too.
